??? HL2 & v-sync

I enabled v-sync in hl2 because i've been getting tearing.

For some reason, beyond my understanding: On the first level, some of the voices are starting to get cut out/distorted and when it tries to load the next section it's is freezing up completley?

I tried some other levels, they seemed fine most of the time and then all of sudden the game just froze up a few times. (got a sound repeating over & over)

Disabling v-sync solves this? wtf is going on?

I play hl2 in 1280x1024, x4 AA + x8 Af @ highest ingame settings @85hz

sometimes.... v-sync just doesn't agree with some games.... that would be an example... other it's really stupid that it happens..

VSYNC and HL2 aren't the greatest of friends.

Yes... One way to get rid of your probs will be either a worse 3D card or a better screen.

The refresh rate of your mouse could cause problems too. For example, if your Vsync refresh rate is 85 setting your PS2 refresh rate to 200 can cause stuttering and sound issues. Setting it to 100 can fix this issue. Just an idea, I have seen this happen in CPU intensive games like Morrowind for example.

Yeah, I got some headaches with HL2. Try playing with the FOV command. Setting it to 100 helped me.
