Joystick recommendations

I've recently discovered the joys of flight sims, the latest being MS Combat Flight Simulator 3 Battle for Europe. Can anyone recommend a decent, reasonably priced joystick so that my experience is not limited to hitting the ground in flames

My OS is XP Pro by the way.

well im more into the gamepads but from what my friends say most of the microsoft joysticks work well with win XP. probably quite expensive though.
