Thumbs Up! Just got Splinter Cell

all I can say is wow! In spite of the hype I tried not to build this game up in my mind. I ordered it thinking it would be good but not "great". I'm really glad I lowered my expectations for it because I'm now totally blown out of the water The game absolutely rocks! I love the whole stealth/secret agent aspect of the game. The controls are simply sweet. and the moves mr. fisher can pull off just have me grinnin from ear to ear Part way into the first level (5 or so save points after training) and I am already hooked. and all I have is my silenced pea shooter! wait til I can get better weapons and equipment But better to not get your hopes up that its this all wonderful game or you'll have it up on this high pedestal and pick it apart when you get it. Just pick it up thinking it'll be a 'good' rental and then sit back and enjoy!!!

anyone else given this one a go yet?? impressions?

edit - oh and Zardon, please do me a favor and try and get this game along with Halo with your new xbox

I also picked up MGS2:substance and could only take about 30 minutes of it. It's definitely getting traded or returned. Very suck-E game IMHO...

now you know once the shipment arrives you have to unpack it all and "test" it out to make sure it all works properly.... some testing requires several hours a night just to be sure it'll be alright and working for your son come christmas morning.... not that I speak from experience or anything...

A more reliable method is to get an impartial member of the family, say a brother or uncle, and let him have it for safe keeping 'til Xmas. We don't want him finding it do we?

I also downloaded the pc demo.... Thought is was suck compared to the xbox version. I have an xp1700 and an r8500 running at 190x9 and performance just wasn't there. Looks MUCH better on my 34" Toshiba and xbox via s-video

I can't wait until this game is released on the PC. I'll have to say, it's good to see a game from Tom Clancy that isn't of his "Frickin' Impossibly Hard Team-Based Tactics Game That You Cannot Beat" series.

I downloaded the PC demo and it looks amazing on my system. Had everything turned to the max, runs real nice.

The reviews I've read have been mixed and after Edges' conservative mark I started to lose interest, but that short demo has got me wetting my pants in anticipation of the full release.

after 60+ hours on this game, I just beat it. Weak ending that blew (IMO) I was hoping to get some sort of "treat" for beating it HARD but nothing new, nothing unlocked. Oh well, still had a great time with this one Now to finish my last Buffy level.....
