GTA:San Andreas Install Error

When I click to install gta, few seconds later i get this message before anything happens...

Have you tried disabling your antivirus software? That would be my first choice. Just be sure to disconnect your network cable before you do disable it. Plus, try disabling as much of the unnecessary software/apps that are running, such as CD image mounting programs like Daemon Tools, or Alcohol, and what not. Essentially anything that can interferre with the installation of the program.

i tried installing with everything closed after computer restart, and still same error.

Its a long shot....but have you tried copying all the files off the DVD to your hard drive and running setup from there?

i tried to install a downloaded version and now a bought version of the game, STILL same error..

Try installing it in SAFE MODE, (F8 when your PC is about to boot into windows, go to Safe Mode.).

This used to happen to me with some installers, they would crash half way through installing and I found out it was some corruption within windows itself.

The only way I fixed this was to reinstall a fresh XP, but im sure you dont want to hear that.

True, I had to reinstall XP SP2 when my Audigy2s software didnt want to install, it kept complaining that the RPC server was unavailable, reinstalled SP2 and all was well.

Try ReInstalling SP2 for XP, and if that filas, a full reinstall.

It could be a corrupt memory stick, try taking each RAM stick out one by one and test them individually. The same thing happened to me a couple of months back, when installing programs, the installer just kept coming up with errors at different points in the installation.

And if its not that, well, a format looks like the only choice

I get this very same error on my kids rig while trying to install Joint Operations and that game has been on his before so I doubt its a bad memory stick but if you want to see try memtest86+ to test your memory. No need to pull it out. I believe it is a software issue and cureable but need to do more research on it.

My system was working fine before I formatted it, but when I came to installing everything again, error messages would pop up and taking the memory out sorted my problem.

Basically GTA:San An uses DemoShield

I am guessing that what happened was that you went through the process as normal, it caused the error saying it was corrupt and every other time you tried you got the error message before you got to the EndUser License stage???

Same problem for me, Didnt have an up to date or correct version of DemoShield.

Use link above, if that doesnt work go to the main website of the link. You'll need to sign up. Presumably what happens is when it encounters a problem it tags the program to avoid problems in future. Could be wrong, but a demo shield trial should fix it.

Now dont get me wrong raistrick, but most of us post with personal experience of issues we have had, (like my problem with installshield being caused by a messed up SP2 issue), so please, do not deirde our users be calling their advise "Utter tosh", thankyou.

Captain EBD, you haven tried Re/Installing Service Pack 2 to see if it helps?

i had the same problem and found the solution. First go to your program file folder and then into common files folder. Rename the install shield folder to something like "installshieldold" and then try to run the game. If it still doesn't work, delete "installshieldold" and restart and try to install. Hope that works. It did the trick for me.

I had the same error and simply renaming the installshield folder to something else (installshieldisgay is what I renamed it to

I have a huge problem guys... When I run the game everything works fine till that part with spraying and drawing and that shit starts... then it throws me out of the game and it says gta_sa has encountered an error.... I tried with downloaded san andreas (with crack) and the original CD and it does the same (ALWAYS!!!)
What the hell should i do??? Any of u guys have any suggestions???????
