Lighting Settings, Battlefield 2
Wondered if anyone has being able to run Battlefield 2 with Lighting on HIGH. I can run the game in 1600x1200 with everything on HIGH and AA on 6x with Lighting on MEDIUM and it works flawlessly with no stutters or anything and looks amazing.
If I set Lighting to HIGH it then lags the fps and sticks when moving :/ is this a problem with ATi drivers or does the lighting use shader 3.0 or something? I wouldnt of thought there would be a huge difference between Medium and High. My setup is in my sig.

Yer not the only one.
Lighting stutters on high. Medium, well, it stutters significantly less, but it may be due to other settings. Could be anything in terms of why.

well I also find the game stutters abit in the early stages of the game at Medium lighting settings 1600x1200, I think its got to do with the loading of textures of the game.
I however played the game at a stable frame rate on high lighting settigs, ATL 8X, at 1024x768 I have problems with the shadowings, it's abit distorted, it is because of the demo? intel P4 2.6G, 756mb ram, sapphire X800pro 256mb |

Setting Lighting to High from Medium adds bumpmaps to all the objects, incurring a huge fps hit. But it looks sweet if you can handle the lower fps -- take a screenshot of a tank at both settings....

Running the game on a 9500NP softmodded, and running @ a screen resize of 1280x1024 (no AA/AF). Tomorrow I'll be getting my X800XTPE back (THANK GOD!), and I'll try upping that setting, plus adding AA/AF. |

Hmm...
I'm wondering what's the best settings for me, since I can't really run on full high settings. I haven't seen a difference between medium and high shadows. Same with dynamic lighting. Also, the retail fixed the AA problems. Demo had one of the ugliest AA i've seen. I can barely notice any in retail. Might bump it down from 4x to 2x.

I think the BF2 engine was made with the Geforce 7800 series in mind, the highest settings, look beautiful, yet destroy the frame rate, enter the 7800GTX and it would probably run lovely, least its good in a way to see game makers futureproof rather than make games for the generation before (remember T&L?, heh).
