rolleyes Battlefield 1942 problem

Radeon 9700 pro
2.8 processor
Asus P4T533 mobo
512mb of 1066 rambus

I been playing Unreal 2003 but decided to get Battlefield 1942 and I can't see any text. I have all the lastest drivers and reloaded the game. I also reloaded the game on my other machine with a TI-4600 and I can see the text no problem. I swapped the cards on the first machine with a TI-4600 and the text came back. It must be the card but it runs everythingthing else great. ATI is no help and I can't get anything from EA games. If anyone has any ideas please shoot it my way. Thanks.

I used to have ATI 8500 retail and bf1942 would crash all the time. Since purchasing G4 Ti4200 with 128mb, have not had any problem with any games. I'm now a loyal fan of Nvidia.

Im a big fan of Nvidia as well, and of Battlefield 1942.
But my old G2 doesnt like that game,
Can play 3 CD ver of UR tournament 2003 final, no prob, and any other games, too lengthy too list, that one is glitchy, NO downright incompatable, any advise would be helpful mates

It is pretty system hungry, but that not my problem right now.
I'm running an Intel Celeron 1.5G. My problem is imy motherboard uses an integrated version of the G2 400MMX.

This is one of the 2 cards listed in the readme with known compatablitly problems, but they dont list any suggestions as to how to rectify it, not sure if I can.

I 'll check out those ideas that were posted, THANKS

At my buddys were running it on a three computer LAN, and one of the machines is an AMD 1.1 with a 32M ATI card, runs smooth.
The multiplayer is a blast !!!

You won't be able to play the game well. Not even in 640x480.

I ran into the text problem when i updated to the 2.5 cat drivers.
I thougt i had done a good job removeing all traces of the old drivers. But After that i did a complete reformat . Installed
the latest tweaked set by Omega And it runs smooth as glass at
1152x864. All effects turned up .

As far as not ever being able to play the game well thats just
bull S#it.
Try this driver set. Best i have found for bf1942.

Played around with some directx settings, changed some sound settings, Runs as smooth as Shit through a goose.

And too RDoggy, thanks much, noticed your a new member, welcome aboard, with advice like that I hope to see YA post more
