System Specs

you should put Norton 200X = biip, as your title..

use Kaspersky Personal..

you've got BF2, a real ressource hogger + Norton 2005 a real ressource hogger.. do you have 2gb ram?

the deal is with Norton, not BF2 since it is not a virus but a game..

Not get a virus alert but an alert that it's trying to acess my anti virus and firewall files.
Games can be insecure and people can acually use then as a gateway to gain acess
to your PC. I find it stange that I'm seeing this stuff in my logs but only during long
gameing sessions.

Norton AV+ uses about 60Mb of ram, No biggie! Unless you have less then 512MB
or a weak system you'll never know it's there. Kapersky is way to easy to disable
a 5 year old with a little help could probubly write a simple to script bypass/close it.
were as Norton is intreched and you can't complely unload it with one click like kapersky.

i only do "on demand scans" of my computer.. never had a virus. using agnitum outpost as firewall.

i have 1gb ram, and i'm upgrading to 2*1gb just to run BF2 at high 4xAA 1280*1024. BF2 loads 1,4gb mem, so ~400mb will be hdd swap file. So saving 60mb of ram-load does a difference.

The evil Norton strikes again, I just love how bloody vague those logs are, "Unathourised access", yes, ok, Symantec, at least tell the user what you mean, anyway, Try E-Mailing EA/DiCE tech supoort with that log, you never know they might help, hehe

Oh, just a little FYI, its just as easy for a virus/trojan to shut down Norton as it is with many other AV software, dont let the bloat make you think its actually useful.

the differeance is it takes virtually one click to disable 100% of you protection and unload everything from memory. Nortan you can disable but it's still loaded. Even handy capped it still doing stuff, logging etc... Processes you can't termanate! Many processes handling many things insted of one or two doing "everything".

Of course a trojan or a virus could take out an non updated anti virus / firewall.
But that is if it gets past heristic scanning. As for kapersky it seems like elementy
school kids could easily remotely disable it. I mean come on you should never be
able to just exit your protection or the process to be so easily killed.

As for the longs that was just a record of the "alerts" alot more is logged then
I'm displaying. Bf2 shouldn't be acessing or trying to alter NAV / NIS processes
It the only program i've seen do that. It also dosn't always happen only during
verry long gameing sessions. Ity wouldn't be the 1st time I'd herd of people
comeing in threw a game useing a flaw or security hole. Especally a buggy as
BF2 is I wouldn't put It past them.

MousePotato will become famous soon enough
System Specs

did you install GameSpy with BF2 ?

I know Norton also dectects it as spy ware ( Adware.GameSpyArcade ) , so i'm wondering if your alerts are from this ?
