BF2 - How to Rack Up Points

Given that my round best is 55 (although I regularly average 30-40) I probably shouldn't be starting this thread, but I figure I'd share what I know and let people add to it.

My observations:

- People with exceptionally high scores typically operate in tight, well balanced squads. Usually these are clans and people are used to working with eachother.

- Medics appear to be the easiest class to rack up points. Revives, healing aura, and healing pack distribution will get you many more points than kills.

- The quickest way to unbalance a map is to allow another team air superiority (either in skills pilots or uncontested airspace). A well balanced squad (engineer, medic, support) on a Blackhawk can rack up a ridiculous amount of kills in short order.

Questions for everyone:

- How do I become uber as an anti-tanker? I can get 25-35 points regularly, usually with a 50/50 kill/death ratio. I've been focusing on anti-tank as I just get pissed w/ dying to vehicles all the time. Some techniques I've used:
1. ride a tank and battle mono-a-mono till the last possible moment, hope out and use an anti-tank missle to finish the job.
2. use anti-tank missiles to kill flag-whoring helos... this is a fairly dangerous maneouver.
3. anti-tank DPVs and hummers as they're usually 1-hit 1-kill easy points
4. anti-tank support and snipers when possible

I still can't get my score very high as an anti-tanker.

- Has anyone, even with an M95 unlock, been able to get more than 15-20 kills in a round? My best is 17, of which 5 are pistol kills.

If you aim away from the tank/apc that you are trying to kill with your AT rocket it won't set off it's alarm. You steer the rocket into the vehicle once it is in flight and it gives you a slight advantage as they won't know its coming until the last second.

On tanks aim for the rear and the top - your shots do more damage there. APC's armor is the same all around so doesn't seem to matter where you hit them.

As an AT guy your best bet is to hang back a bit and using buildings to provide cover and altitude. I use flanking to get around to the side/back of attackers and hit them and try to avoid engaging infantry if I can. If you can find another player to work with you, two AT guys can take out a tank much more often than one person working alone.

My best game on a ranked server was 102 points. 94 of those points were team points and I spent the entire time riding shotgun on in a Blackhawk repairing it when it took damage, dropping mines, and surprisingly (to myself anyway) shooting a few people with my shotgun. Key was we had a good pilot and a squad that communicated so we always had someone running the miniguns and a medic on board.

If I get more than 15-20 kills per round it is because I am tearing things up in an APC or Tank, and not because I pwn on the ground. I have found that sometimes the single shot mode on the weapons works better for me. Don't know if I am more patient with it or what though.

Obviously being a medic is the best way to get points but if you really want to get a ton I would do these three things at the same time:

1) Be medic
2) Pick commander
3) Ride in a gunner seat of the tank, get out only for revives and healing

You could rack up like 200 points doing that cause win for commander doubles your score. Personally, points are overrated and you're better off killing people until your kills>deaths.

I got something around 27 kills with a final score over 70. I've found that the M95 is pretty much the same gun as the M24 except that it's louder and shoots through light armor. They really need to increase the precision over the M24 considering that it's a 50 cal rifle, shots can be randomly crap. I was able to shoot down 3 helis first day with the M95 though. One thing I can't stand are those retards that run over claymores. I tactically set them in certain areas so I don't get knifed and some moron comes running at like a magnet.

With a jet I can get 100 points per round easy. Though thats with obnoxious carpet bombing the whole game. It's no fun for me. Plus you always have to beat the assholes that don't know how to fly to your jet when it respawns.

Medic, engineer, assault and support are my classes of choice. Medic's good for general use, mostly because I always manage to run over some dumbass who runs beside my vehicle. Engeneer for when I'm doing lots of 'tanking'. Support when I feel like getting lots of kills. Assault for when I feel like taking out choppers. The grenade launcher is better for taking out choppers taking flags as it does not warn the occupants. If its a blackhawk or huey you can usually get one right 'in' the back cabin and kill all the riders.

Personally I have more fun playing the game on unranked servers. Points don't really matter on an unranked server so there's way less 'oddness' going on. Like me blowing up instantly from a guy thats killed my tank misteriously while I'm standing still and the UAV saying nobody's around. Or a guy at ten paces not even attempting to dodge me somehow evades fire from a support weapon till it got hot. Then turns around and caps me in one hit. Though none of that weirdness on unranked. I'm content to stay a Lance corp. You still get cool medals.

That doesnt work on me by that time I've already figured out where you are and
your swallowing MG fire + A tank shell and your rocket wizzes by he he he
No mater were your hideing I can hit you if not directly then splash damage..

The key is though to guide your rockets untill impact and to fire ahead or higher in the
air of a moveing target ...

Calymores ans mines and then they use "punish" fore thier stupidity or wine try to kick
for team killing Or get you auto kicked. Wich I think is thier goal becouse they can see
the mines and clamores and knows what will happen...

Also some corn wholes find it fun to dispable all our defenes blow up our vehikles etc
to help the other team win...

On the ground groups are mostly extra freefrags for good tank/BTR drivers, while in a blackhawk its another story.
If i drive the blackhawk beeing a medic while having 2 good gunners and engineers fixing the blackhawk its not hard to get 100p+ if you are a good driver.

Yeah while driving a tank/chopper u can get some few extra freepoints for healing without sweat.

The easy way of getting high scores is by using vehicles often.
Adapt to situations by choosing your pack after that.

I get close to about 60 a rond with M95

You just have to know your map, easiest kills are camping their helicopter at their main base. Its hard when you start but pretty easy after a while. The M95 can shoot through helicopter windows, So just wait for the drive to get in, shoot him in the face (I tested it on my teamate to c if it actually worked : ) and wait for someone to hop in gunner. Also I noticed that the M95 is pretty much just as powerful as the M24 when coming to shooting ppl. Wtf is up with that, its an anti material rifle banned by the geneva convention to be used on humans (though our millitary says we use it to take out the equipment on the soldiers to make everything even out.

M95 sucks in that game, don't make my same mistake, go with G36C or the L85A1, those will help you rack up points quicker.

This game is overall good, but the ranking system sucks ass because you have to devote your entire life to it for 2 yrs just to unlock most of the weapons. If I had a chance, I would never have bought this game.

pistol is definitely the best weapon in sniper class by far.

I remember I was on this level (the one with the city that the T's control and you have to overtake it by only having two permanent bases) where I was under the train tracks and I was just picking off their entire team across the water and at this spawn right next to me, so I finaly ran out of ammo. And used my pistol till I ran out of that getting more kills with it than the m24, I think I got almost 40 kills that time.

The M24 is definately the best most precise rifle in the game and is great for sniping. I get better precision standing up with the M24 than proning with the M95. That seems like a big problem to me considering that in real life the M95 could shoot someone in half with much greater precision than the M24. EA really needs to fix this crap.
When I already wasted the first easy unlock on the shitty M95, I figured I'd just unlock every weapon on a different account.

I love your positive posts. Yay.

The Special Forces rifle you can unlock is pretty accurate too!

What are the requirements for getting all the unlokcks? I wasted my first on the Assault class and well....I wish I'd gone for the medic or support since I play those much more often...

every rank you unlock from LC and on gives you a weapons unlock.

best i did was something like 75pts in a round when i started out as a sniper. had a kick ass spot and kept picking people off the entire round.

that M95 is supposed to be an upgrade, but it realy does suck.

tonight though i went on a killing spree as a medic. found a place inbetween a building with a nice big cut out in it, and the enemy forces kept chargeing the wall infront of it to pick off my team. i sat back and watched them all show there backs to me while i picked htem off. ended up with 10 kills in under 2 mins at the round start.
