DH Article: God Of War (PS2)

Raymond "No_Style" Lim is just back after spending some time in ancient greece.

"Once in a blue moon, gamers are rewarded for their choice of console by the superpowers of console gaming. Nintendo have rewarded their gamers with countless jewels in the form of their Metroid Prime and Zelda games. Microsoft blessed its followers with Halo and Mech Assault. So that leaves us with the biggest of the super powers, Sony. It is no secret that Sony’s Gran Turismo series have brought great success to the PlayStation, but what about other in house developer made successes? Well, in the month of March 2005, God of War for the PlayStation 2 set foot on North American soil and was well received. Earlier this July, that very same game made its way to the shores of the European market. Thus, I thought it would be appropriate to visit ancient Greece and meet God of War, head on."

very cool game, amazed they pushed the PS2 to create this, even looks nice compared to some gamecube and Xbox titles with their superior hardware.

It's a great game. I rented it and passed it on the easiest difficulty. I'm thinking of buying it and pass the harder difficulty and unlock lots of stuff. Bloodshed has never been so much fun on te PS2 .

Does anyone know if it will be released on other consoles? If it looks that good on PS2, it would look great on xbox or xbox 360.

nope, ps2 exsclusive. its made by Sony Computer Entertainment America. keyword - SONY.

with that said, GoW was an amazing game. did it just come out over there for you guys? weve had it over here for like the last 4 months... just seems odd that the review would be now.

i can honestly say that while SCEA may not makeing many games, when they do there always amazing. Legand Of Dragoon, anyone?

Should there be a God of War sequel? I am sure if SCEA wanted to milk the success of this game, they could, but I would leave the game as it is. A solitary success story, which gamers can look back on and say, “Yeah, God of War was a fantastic game for the PS2.”
While a small part of me doesn't want SCEA to 'milk' GoW, a bigger part of me wants at least one more game. I guess I'm craving the gore, violence and such But seriously, I think there might be a sequel because at the end they sorta hinted that there might be one. Apparently in one of the extras, there's a story about Kratos and his brother growing up in Sparta. The strong male children were sent to the training camps while the weaker children were sent to the mountains and left to die. Apparently Kratos and his brother were separated when they were younger and while kratos was sent to the spartan army, his brother was left to die on a mountain. So his brother's tormented soul was sent to Hades and apperently he plans to return and seek revenge for Kratos abandoning him....

Yes it ended with something like "Kratos will return", so id guess there would be a sequel at some stage, maybe on the PS3, that would be nice.

It's a great game but I found the traps annoying. At least there were not too many of them. One of the traps took me about 10-20 tries to pass.

The only one I had problems with was the section of pipe you had to walk across with spinning blades, it was pretty difficult near the end after walking around 3 different areas when you had to jump over them and balance on the pipes.

I dont normally like PS2 games but this was probably one of my favourite console games of all time, that and resident evil 4 on the gamecube.
