Hiya,
I got my drives partitioned, C:\ for windows and it is a partition of: 5gb, it only has 500mb free on it, when I try to install the patch it gives me the following error: "You have too little space on your harddrive to patch bf2(tm), you need at least1600mb" I was wondering if you are able to tell the installer/setup to use another drive or path instead of the default one? being: [windowsdrive]:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Local Settings\Temp I have the required space in other drives, so it would be nice if I was able to tell it to use another drive instead of C:\ Any ideas are welcome ![]() Thanks in advanced. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() :w 00t:::News:: ----------- Please go to: http://www.hardwareheaven.com/gaming-discussion/86886-bf2-patch-1-03-wont-let-game-run.html Last edited by vbjr; Oct 8, 2005 at 11:25 AM. |

Hmm, can't say I've heard of anyone doing that. Might be a switch of some sort you could use or move files around worst comes to worst.

The only idea I have is to take the patch to my friend's house, then copy everything from the temp dir it makes before it finishes the installation, and burn it, take it back home and install it manually this way.
At least with patch 1.02 or 1.01 you were able to do it this way, but they are using the new installer which wont let you uncompress the cab archive to manually install the patch. I will wait a bit more of time to see if anyone has an idea though, or even if they are able to help me out in uncompress this installer. Otherwise its time to burn temp dirs hehe. Thanks. |

BTW. When you "cleaned" you hd for junk files???? I can recall the moment when I run CCleaner for the first time, it told me that I had over 1.5 Gb of junk on my main HD.

Hehe I wish it was junk, winblows takes a lot of space and there are other important files, there are files from winblows that I could move to another temp drive for now, but I still wont have the whole 1.6gb free

Well I have now found a way to patch the game, but it doesnt seem to launch afterwards for me hehe.
Here is how you do it. 1: Launch bf2_patch_103.exe 2: While the patch runs, go to my pc, windowsdrive[c:\]:\\Documents and Settings\[username]\Local Settings\Temp 3: click next on the patch 4: Notice in the temp dir it creates a dir refering to reg, something like: "{4B505D2D-7A2C-44BB-9B11-004ACF28CECE}" 5: Go into the dir, and into the next dir after that. 6: Make a new dir in another drive where you have space. call it temp if you like 7: Copy all the files from the temp dir into the newly created dir in your other drive. 8: You should have a file called patch.exe , there should be a total of 12 files in there. 9: Let the patch fail and tell it ok, or just cancel it. 10: Open notepad and write the following: "J:\temp\patch.exe" "D:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2" "J:\temp\patch.rtp" > "D:\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Dmp\patchlog.txt" Change the letter drives to your own, I am using J:\ as my drive with most space, D:\ is where i have bf2 installed, and change the path to your docs, mine is in d:\ Save the file as patch.bat in the same dir where patch.exe is 11: Run the batch file and let it patch the game. 12: Let me know if it works

I am taking a guess here, but I think that the installer is using the default TEMP path to extract the files. Here is what you can try to have the installer extract the files to a larger drive.
1. Right Click "My Computer" 2. Select the "Advanced" tab. 3. Click "Environment Variables" 4. Notice for the top box it says: "Variables for %username%" 5. Notice for the bottom box it says: "System Variables" 6. There are several TEMP and TMP paths for both the username and system paths. 7. Edit these paths to point TEMP and TMP to another drive. 8. As a precaution I would create the directory there too just to be safe. E.G. The current TEMP path for me says: G:\Documents and Settings\EcPercy\Local Settings\Temp. You can change that to: H:\TEMP. Have Fun!!! |

Nice idea, I used to do it another way, nice to know of another way
![]() The problem still seems to be there for some reason though, its like it checks the C:\ drive to see if it has 1.6gb free, even though its using a different drive for the temp files. Thanks though, Any other ideas?

Well, if you changed both the user and system temp and tmp paths to another drive then I would send a support request to EA.

Other method of doing it is just copying the patch files i mentioned before to the same dir where bf2 is installed, and it will patch it, now that i have patched it, the game wont work hehe, tries to run but it just quits to winblows.... i guess i need to open a new thread about this one :S
