Ok here's the deal:
everytime i enter a new multiplayer games it takes a lot of time to "Verifying Client Data".After this it enters the map but the screen is still laggy/stuttering about 1 min and my motion halted for a few more seconds. Why is that? My rig: AMD64 X2 3800+ @ 2.4Ghz 2x512 Corsair Twinx 3200C2PRO dual-channel Gainward 7800GT 1x Western Digital 160Gb Sata II Before i had a losie XP2100+ with 9800Pro and the screen wasn't stuttering at all at the beginning of the map BUT i had 2x 80GB Hitachi in RAID0. Are there any tweaks for this? thanks. |

What are your settings? high I am guessing.
If so ... the stuttering is from a lack of ram, like it has been said before you really need 1.5-2gigs of ram to loose that stuttering at the beginning. The page file overflows onto the hard disk so you get a slow down when its loaded I lost it when I went from 1-1.5 gigs. 3x512 I only have 3 slots. If you can afford it either put in two more sticks of 512 or buy two 1gig sticks. If you want to test this, lower all of your setting, this will lower your required Page file and should remove your stutter. If it still exists you may have a different problem...but I doubt it. |

You just have to consider the map size is huge compared to any other game.
1280-1024 Try these setting. Terrain=Medium Effects=Medium Geometry=High Texture=Medium Lighting=Medium Dynamic Shadows=Low Dynamic Light=Low AA=2 TF=4 VD=100 These are the setting I play with a 6600GT and get decent to low frame rates but image quality is still very good. But for you will get good image quality and fantastic performance. It should lower the page file size as well. |

it's not about performance or FPS, they don't drop under 60 (vsync on cause LCD) BUT ~30sec after entering the map it stutters... HDD works like hell.

This exact thing happens to me when I enter the F.E.A.R. MP demos. It lasts for just about 30 seconds right after the beginning of each new round. After that, it's smooth and fast.
