??? Game Jackal discussion thread

Anyone tried Game jackal, and how it works?

Play all your favorite games without inserting a single cd!
Using your game's original CD or DVD, create a Game Jackal profile that enables you to play your favourite games directly from the hard drive... CD-Free! Once a profile has been created the CD or DVD can then be put away for safe keeping, protecting your gaming investment for years to come and ensuring hunting for and inserting a game’s disc is a thing of the past.
  • CD and DVD free pc gaming
  • CD or DVD is safely stored free from potential damage or loss
  • Game launch is quicker
  • No more searching for that elusive game CD or DVD and losing valuable game play time
  • Profiles are small, typically less than 1 MB
  • No messy virtual drives
  • One click profile creation. Simply right-click a desktop game icon and covert it in seconds
Plz discuss here

Seems to be a virtual drive manager, similar to what other much cheaper programs offer (e.g. Alcohol, CloneCD and Daemon Tools - the latter one is free)

Sorry the link it was not intend for advertisement, or piracy.

Discussion in this thread is only discussion for ppl who have a LEGAL copy of a game,
and want to keep their properties intact,
and NOT AN THREAD FOR PIRATED GAMES.

This is quite incorrect, Game Jackal does not use any form of virtual drive at all. In fact the software you have mention all require 650 - 700mb images. Game Jackal uses on average 10mb per game, and you can create a game profile in seconds...

oh and BTW, Game Jackal is cheaper than both Alcohol and CloneCD

It could be used for pirated games, but i'm not shure of that, its the first time i heard of the program , if it makes images of original games , it could maybe work for pirated games.
I have no Pirated games so i can't test it.

So.. how does that work exactly then? I mean, it's GOTTA get the data from somewhere. What about STARFORCE? Would it work with Splinter Cell?

and more expensive that daemon tools.

1 post? you the author? if so perhaps you could give us some more information on this.

I tested it out, didnt work with brothers in arms earned in blood, I ended up having to deinstall and reinstall the game. (its not a copy, the original).

Actually game jackal is quite nice. They do seem to update it and while it wont probably work as well as daemon tools v4 is going to, it sure is awesome for those old games that you might have installed and have lost the cd for. It is able to emulate protections without the media being present. For example.... Back when Dawn of war got its 1.3 and 1.4 patch if you didnt have the game cd you couldnt play. Useing game jackal, you dont even need the cd to create anything, you literaly just have it scan the game and it comes back saying... "Oh... looks like BLAH PROT is being used.... We can do that..." and boom yer in the game.

No not the author, just found this post while looking for something else and just thought I would set the record straight as the comments made were incorrect...

I bought it and it does what its supose to, now I don't have to switch cd every time I play a different game.

its going up to 30 dollar soon, so i jumped on it for 9.99.
So if i don't end up using it as much as i thought or not likeing it, it's no biggie
