Demanding Demos

Quiet a few Demos have become quite demanding. I was wondering what settings, FPS, and hardware you are effectively running the Demos at.

F.E.A.R.
Call of Duty 2

Those seem to be the most demanding right now but if you guys can think of others that hit your system hard feel free to list those also.

If your hardware is in your sig you do not have to re-list it.

F.E.A.R. - 640x480, 32bit color - most other settings at medium, a few at low - looks good to me though. Haven't run ATT to check the FPS though - don't want to embarrass myself.

1600x1200 2x/4x AA/AF

running around 45FPS

F.E.A.R. : All setting "High"ith 2x/4x AA/AF 1280x1024 all running at 75 FPS
Call Of Duty 2 : All Maxed Out Setting 1280x1024 running at 70 FPS

fear - everything max, soft shadows on, 2xaa 16xaf, 1024x768, 11% below 25, 44% 25-40, 45% 40+, 110fps max 20fps min according to the built in stress test.

sounds fine. anyone of u cares if its on MAX to have the EyeCandy Graphix or u like the Performance better then the Quality? For my part, I love having the Eyecandy thing, but i'm most likely targeting on having good gfx without hurting the best performance I can get! what about u?

i like finding the spot in the middle. if i cant run with all the eye candy and AA on, ill drop the AA down to 2 or 4x. if it still wont run well, ill leave it at 2x and find some graphics options to start droping down a bit.

If its over 20 FPS with MAX eyecandy I am good to go. Has to be at least 40 for multiplayer though.

i'll drop down any game down to 1280x1024 before i turn off any AA or AF

damn right! I swear, i'm so picky when it comes to gameplay. If i start seeing jaggies, i look at the most minute details and start complaining

lol ya i know how that goes. i went from being happy with a steady 30fps and no AA, to being an absolute bitch about anything below 35FPS with any forms of jaggies in under a years time.

ya well i was used to about 5 years of crap quality graphics. that first year or so i was still in awe of anything over DX7. something about going from a tnt2 to an x800pro will do that to you....

. I didn't have nearly as big an upgrade you had. i went from a 9700pro to my 6800GT

ya, i dont plan on ever waiting that long again.

the main reason i waited that long though was because i didnt have internet for like 2 years. then when i finaly got it, i was on AOL 56k for about 3 wich limited me to Diablo 2 LOD and StarCraft. both games my system could handle no problem, and play online just fine. i had a couple other games such as SOF 1+2, HL and all the add ons, max payne, so on and so forth but i could justify a new comp just for that.

then i got cable.... and then doom3 previewed and i started seriously looking at upgradeing. then last july, i had this rig. and havnt had a single complaint yet.

Exactly.

To be completely honest, if I have to play at less than 2xAA 4xAF, I'm not happy.

when the day comes that i have to play at 1024x768, AA/AF turned off, and details set to medium or low, i know that will be the day that i have to upgrade my rig

ya, i upgraded just for Doom3, but then hl2 and farcry came out and even more games so ya.... i was happy about the purchase.

I spent 2000 for more or less a single game to run flawlessly

It was worth it cause F.E.A.R. looks awsome, especially with the Transparent AA.

I spent alot of money on my computer and it woth it, only maybe the CPU i mught change agin hehe but not this year, maybe nest year when the FX-57 will cost like 600-700$cdn, i'll buy it!

battlefield 2 is rape.... to date that is the hardest game ive ever run. the ruby demo is pretty bad on my 9700 pro

I run COD 2 demo in DX7 forced at 1600x1200 4xAA and the FPS never drops below 60 yet it looks almost as good as DX9.
