I'm not flaming, its just advice. I'm not telling you to do anything.
Just seems you would have more of a valid point if you actually played some of the actual game. Got to that big heart thingy. Is it made of metal? cause when I shot it sparks came out. Graphics in the game seem to get better ass I progress though I long for some open spaces. |

Well I can judge graphics through a demo too
![]() I found it amazingly hot but the moment you turn down the few amazing settings, the game is absolutely hideous. It's gorgeous though, I agree. The bullet holes, the gore, the effects, etc but it's not that great. I find the Doom engine better or even the Half Life 2 engine better. And it doesn't run that well either. I mean, I barely churn out enough frames but hell, some people got the money for a 7800 gtx... I ain't lucky enough. So you don't know what I'm talking about

I ran the demo fine with my 5900XT and a crap system. It was laggy and on Medium, but the gameplay was still there. I understand where your coming from though. Most of the main points you make against the game were in the demo. Though the demo is significantly different than the actual game. The MP demo is pretty much the same in the game. No PB or anything kinda makes playing it pointless after a while on a lot of servers. Despite its flaws F.E.A.R. has its amazing unscripted moments that just surprise you or freak the hell out of you. HL2 is all pretty much scripted Gameplay. Quake 4 is a little better but its all pretty much script cause you know exactly wher ethe enemy is coming from. In F.E.A.R. you can run into a room and not know what the hell is goin to happen and if you go in too fast guns a blazing your dead. F.E.A.R. just provides tose great moments that surprise many people especially in combat. Playing F.E.A.R. for the first time after the demo (when I bought it) I pretty much came into the game thinking I know their tricks there is no way they could own me. So I put it on the hardest difficulty (the only difference in difficulty is damage and accuracy they do to you instead of restricting the AI). The game is very rewarding in battle situations and the AI does not know exactly where you are and does not track you through walls. The invisible guys are nuts and they have different variants of the replica forces that are better armed and look like they are better trained. If you also notice certian types of clones troops do different jobs. Some secure areas, some Search and destroy, and some defend an objective.

Far Cry has amazing AI anad would search and explore to find you. HL2 was great with the combine really getting cover and flanking you and everything. Quake is still okay with them flanking and everything though they are kamaikazee.. Q4 doesn't have the best AI but FEAR has nothing great. I mean, they push a table... HL2 they do that too. They flank, so do they in HL2 and Far Cry. They autmoatically get into vehincales to chase you (nope but in Far Cry, yes) so please, PLAY some other games before you say that FEAR has the most amazing AI ever.

Well you see, you got weird tastes.
Farcry was the first good game in a while, then HL2 just blew everyone's socks off and won game of the year. You'll see, FEAR won't win game of the year ever. It's good but nothing great... And don't worry, I'll get it soon. And dude, you can still get the gist of a game via a demo so stop trying to act smart... A demo is a way to show what the FULL game is like. Gameplay Sound Graphics Level Design ALL OF IT is the same in the full version. -_- |

I'm not saying F.E.A.R. is game of the Year material, I'm just saying it is not crappy.
This pointless to argue in a forum about video games because everyone is just as stubborn as I am. |

hehe
just shows that everyones tastes are diffrent. my points are this. fear and quake 4 are diffrent games on the fps aspect is the same. fear is awsome dont get me wrong but 2 parts of it realy annoyed me 1: all the area`s in the game all looked fimilure hardly no veriety. and 2: very very unoptomized game *x800-850 hardware sutter like there is no tommorow. and quake 4 is what doom 3 should have been. quake 4 has veriety and diffrent loctions, more guns, better optimized for gaming pleasure.... all in all there both great games but im not going to get into a war over what one is better lol they both gave me joy, end of story. i will speak a little about quake 4 though its the best FPS i have played this year *its actualy my GAME OF THE YEAR 2005*

Finished Q4 and FEAR in the same day
![]() I found them both fun in their own way, but oddly similar. Clones, Genetic freaks being mass produced! Dark hallways and a big gun Stories were both terrible and the games were sadly predictable. Level of difficulty made no difference, tore through the hordes with ease. Both games are good if you have some time to kill, if you're looking for some serious game time I'd recommend a replay of Far Cry for the 10,000th time

So far, I completely agree with everything Zardon has said about the two games =) Use your brains people, realize the truth!

If you liked Quake 3 Arena you will probably like the multi. I know some die hard quake fans who have been to CPL a couple times that think it is nothing like Quake 3 and also say it has the same net Code as Doom3 multi. Its still pretty fun though, but I tihnk if your buyin quake it should probably be for the single player more than the multiplayer.

I finished FEAR. Loved it, excellent atmosphere, great graphics, smart(er than normal) enemies, didn't want to put it down. I was disappointed when it ended FAR too soon. I had to say I was a little disappointed with the level design too. It did become a tad monotonous after a while, but the enemies and worries of the little ring chick popping up kept me on the edge of my seat.
Quake 4. Started playing it as soon as I finished FEAR. Loving it so far. Great graphics, nice shoot 'em up action. Totally different ball of wax from FEAR. Shoot lots of bullets at targets. Enough bullets kills anything. In FEAR I tended to be more conservative in my approach - not blindly running into rooms, etc. In Quake, bah! Run in, circle strafe, keep going. hehe... I think there's room for the two. I think they're different enough games to give most people a lot of fun. I would certainly wait until FEAR hit the bargain bins though, or at least a sale, it's not enough game for the price it costs. Fun, but too brief.

I just started playing Quake 4 on Saturday and I just can't seem to get into it like I did with FEAR. FEAR kept me hooked in the entire time, I just never stopped until I beat the game. Hopefully Quake 4 will get better

Sadly, I have to agree. I'm wishing I could get attached to Quake 4 as I did to FEAR, but I've managed not to play it for two days now. I don't think I could have done that with FEAR. Alas, I'll never know, since I finished it in about 15 hours.
Good game, too short!

Something it will need less of - hype. With all the hype surrounding many games, it's really hard for them to live up to the customer's expectations....
