you know what though. this will do little to their sales. they rushed it to the market and people have been influenced on MTV. and EA is doing a lot to back them now. even though i hate xbox, im pretty sure it will do better in the long run

Most of the issues are easliy fixable. MS needs to rethink it's power brick, packaging, the hard drive connector needs to be tweaked, and heatsink issues need to be examined. If MS took a close look at the latter 2 issues I bet they find that they are actually shipping problems. Whenever you ship electronic components there is always the possibility that something will get dislodged, and given the 360s poor packaging it's not surprising. There is no "protection", if you will, between the outter box, and the 360 itself on 3 sides (looking from the front of the unit standing up: top, right side, bottom) except a millimetre of cardboard box! There is 2 pieces of foam padding between the bottom of the 360, and the controllers/whatnot below the system, plus 2 double folded pieces of cardboard between the back/front, and the outter box. That's it. I made mention to a number of people that where having issues with the 360 recognizing the hard drive that they should try to remove the HDD, and then reseat it. Sure enough, it solved the problem in a number of cases. Why? Funny enough, the TOP of the unit is where the hard drive resides. In the cases where the drive still didn't work.. well, it turns out they were damaged (either the drive itself, or the connector got mashed/damaged). Oh, I wonder how that happened??? At the very least the hard drive should not be attached to the 360 during shipping, and it definatly should not be placed in harms way. Now, the 360 Core bundle is "sorta" ok since there is no HDD unit there, but it's not ok for the Premium bundle. More padding, or having the HDD unit elsewhere in the box (better protected) is the way to go. As for the PSU brick, better ventilation, or even a low powered exhaust fan on the side of the brick should do the trick. I haven't opened one up yet, but I bet they skimped on the aluminum heatsinks. There really isn't much else you can do with it (short of making it stand vertically).
