SFO's Help, Tips, and Strats Thread
If you have any interesting strategies, advice, or a common problem you yourself have overcome in a game (any system) and would like to share how you did it, feel free to post.
I myself can help with Most PC shooters, strategy, and RPG games though I'm sure members other than myself know more about some games than I do. Feel free to ask questions, request tips, and/or ask for strats (strategies) for any game on any system, if no one here can help then I will try to find some sites that may help. Thanks guys, would like this thread to stay alive as I think it would help. |

Well, maybe I'll be the first to respond.
![]() Anyway, one of the best and most consistently successful tactics I've found to work is to try to keep your opponents coming at you in a single file/line. If you can keep them from spreading out and flanking you, you've got a better chance of success. |

Try to find coridoors in the map where there only two exits (towards you and the way the enemy may enter. Wait at you side of it behind a wall and listen for footsteps (I would recommend headphones if you don't already have some. As soon as you hear footsteps dash across (If they don't fire then they probably assumed you did not know you were there and persue you thinking you ar estill running). Once you hear them close enough come around the corner and duck (or go prone if you can) and aim your shots carefully as you probably have a 30 round mag, the enmies behind your first victim will not be able to see you and you will have a clear shot at their heads when one falls. I may draw up some other ways to effectively use this tactic on your foes, remember supressive fire does work. If you are defending a well covered position with at least 2 people it is very easy to take down a team of five with the right placement and shot timings. Also if you want some specific helps on a certain map for a game I can take a screenshot or overhead picture and post it on here with some tips on it. Quote:
Pointman and team strats. Point is probably the worst position on any online multiplayer game unless you are very careful, fast, and use grenades to your advantage. Point man usually gets the most point but dies the most, clean up (positions behind point) nutralizes any enemies point may have missed or decide to strike a delayed ambush. If you have 5 people in an assault group (Point, 3 cleaners [N, E, W directions of the area being cleared], and Rover [makes sure no one flanks the team, if being flanked is not possible the go where needed]), grenades, and a common understanding of the surroundings and strats with your team then clearing any room will be no problem. Sound is the one key element that can foil any plan, you have to go that extra mile (no matter how long it may take) to make sure the enemy does not think you are going to break through at one point. Distractions. This could be flashbangs lobbed in the general area of your enemies, smoke grenades, a single team member staying behind to pose as your entire team. This is vital but can often be over used. If you have a distraction at one POE (point of entry) in an area a smart enemy will not spread their ranks so thin. The idea is to use as many combinations of distractions in a game as possible, you can even create a diversion at the POE you are actually using. Finding good POE before you start your battle. A good POE of will have at least three entrances/exits. One your enemy will likely come from and set up pos ready for your advance. The other two should be used by two teams coordinating an attack or one as an entrance and the other as a quick exit. If there is only one point of entry (on your side) then make sure you have grenades or are willing to wait a while till the enemy advances. Communication. Always talk to you teamates, if it is with a mic or typing. Comminication creates a fun experience and holds together the team. Report anything and everything you get time for but do not spam the mic. Keep it short simple and too the point, I myself have died many times because someone would not stop talking and I could not hear the enemy footsteps. Tmming. The only way to improve upon this is playing, when you get to the point where you can play a match only by ear and not die then you know you have gotten this under your belt. The Pick Arguably one of the most important elements of a match (mostly CS Cal teams). The Pick (first kill of the round) almost always decides the direction and force a team will go based on a strat (strategy). In a 5 v 5 game losing you member in the very begining put you in the hole to step it up a notch. The Pick of the match is usually awarded to the more patient of two teams of equal skill. There are quite a few things I have missed but I have to go to my second job soon, I'll post some more about defense and such when I get home back tonight if no one has ay help or strat question. |
