FarCry, How do you enable HDR with X1800XT cards !?

for the life of me i just installed farcry x64 with the patches ect
then i used this running method : -DEVMODE "r_hdrrendering 7"

in CCC i tryed the game with AA and Without AA and i cant seem to enable HDR

running the 5.13 drivers aswell.

Farcry is fully updated but i can get the game looking like this:

All these shots where done on a X1800XT with HDR + AA
i cant even get HDR without AA never mind with AA

please someone help

this is a SM3.0 card right or have ati dooped us all.

ehh ? lol all those shots have HDR in em with a |X1800XT card aswell + AA
but for the life of me i cant get HDR with AA or without AA

im guessing we ATI customers need YET AGAIN another PATCH
then again it figures. lol

Ok im lost. you say all those shots have HDR in them with a X1800XT card with AA, but you cant get HDR working with AA. right?

I dont know what you are asking, are those screenshots even yours?

You need the unreleased Patch 1.4 for Far Cry, if you want to enable HDR on your X1800.

That figures, yet again another patch for a card that has sm3.0 in hardware but yet again another patch to enable it.

i want to enable this on my X1800XT card somehow though i think we need a patch to enable HDR with AA, why do we need a patch

we have it in hardware

also i heard you could get HDR in X1800XT without AA just like NVIDIA cards do without a patch but i cant enable it

HDR has nothing to do with the shader model. And SM3.0 is available for R520s, too:
"Patch 1.32 change log

• Fixed a Shader Model 3.0 issue that caused graphics corruption on new ATI hardware"

Far Cry is stupid and doesn't recognize your graphic card by its features, but by its Device_ID, and Far Cry doesn't know, that your X1800 supports Far Cry's HDR.

well isnt there a way to enable it with editing farcry files or something
HDR without AA would be a start as every last gen NVIDIA card can do that out of the box lol

You could try to change the device ID with the 3danalyzer (http://www.tommti-systems.de/start.html -> files -> click on the picture) or with DX Tweaker, if you know the device ID of the 7800s or 6800s, but I'm sure, it will not work.

what version do u have??? maybe get windows x64 edition and get the x64 patch......dono if that would help but i have it but HDR wouldent work with my x800xl anyway

I can't believe the misinformation that goes on in here, and nobody says a thing! What you said is so false, it makes the sentence "The sun rises from the west" seem like a universal truth.

X1000 series cards work wonderfully with HDR at Far Cry. You will need to have the upcoming patch if you want to have HDR and AA enabled at the same time - you see, up until now Geforce cards were the only ones capable of HDR, and since they don't support HDR + AA at the same time, the developers didn't have that as an option.

What I imagine is going on, is that for some reason, your configuration file tells the game to use SM2.0 and not 3.0. Either do a clean reinstall of the game, or try to enable SM3.0 from the console using the command:

r_sm30path=1

to enable SM3.0. If you don't know how to enable the console, it's done by running farcry like this:

"C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Crytek\Far Cry\Bin32\FarCry.exe" –devmode

The patch is coming somewhere in Feb'06.

I stand corrected; it seems that I hed tinkered my Far Cry installation with some "newer" files, and thus HDR was working. With patch 1.33 HDR is indeed not working with FarCry; you'll need the upcoming patch for that.
