I've gone through the IW forum looking for an answer to this. Seems no one has had to do it yet.

After installing the patch that is supposed to improve Dual Core/HyperThreading CPUs, my performance has gone to the pits. Pre-patched, I was having a blast.

So, I need to uninstall the game and then reinstall without the new patch.

BUT, I don't want to have to start all over again from scratch. So, which files need to be backed up? Only the Players folder? Anything else?

I think I'm able to avoid doing a full reinstall. I allowed the game to reset to Optimal Settings and then manually made changes from there. The only thing I have't restored to what I was using previously is the 2xAA setting. But, the performance ... using DX 9 again ... is back to where it was pre-patch....just as smooth as can be.

Also, I went into my BIOS and upped my memory from Turbo to Street Racer setting.

Only problem now is that I'm stuck in a Catch-22:

I'm at the point in the game where I have to mount the AA gun in order to shoot down the enemy airplanes. BUT, there are still Nazis around throwing grenades. If I don't shoot down the planes, the mission fails; if I don't move out of the way of the grenades I get killed...and the mission fails.

Quite a challenge.
