DirectX Fear!!

I have just re-formatted my pc due to an issue i had with medal of honor allied assault. My cpu usage had gone up to 100% (i have p4 duel core) when playing mohaa. I thought this problem was because of a conflict with the latest nividia drivers 81.94 and above. So after my re-fomat i tried installing the new 82.12, and i had no problems with my cpu usage with mohaa, so i thought everything was ok. THen i re-installed fear, and installed the directX that came with the disk, and i loaded up mohaa, cpu usage 100%! So i ahve located my problem i think. So can anyone tell me how i can uninstall the current directx (4.09.0000.0904) august edition according to the Fear disk, and install a directX that does not send my cpu usage to 100% with mohaa (my cpu usage does not go to 100% whehn i play Q4, hl2 or fear)

Sorry to tell you this, but, DirectX is integrated so much into Windows that the only way to get rid of it is to do a reformat again. However, if you're using Windows XP with SP2, you already got DirectX 9.c with it. Therefore, I'm not sure just what your conflict could be after installing the DirectX from the FEAR installation. That is, unless something is 'calling home' to get updates. Do you have it set to automatically connect to the Internet? IF so, disable that and see if there's any improvement.

Have you seen the MS hotfix for dual core system before? http://support.microsoft.com/?id=896256

It was designed with AMD dual cores in mind, but the logic behind the fix applies to all systems. I was having similar problems, and it fixed mine, I have heard of it fixing intel systems too. You can DL it here.

I thought I had already gotten this and installed it. BUT, apparently I was wrong.

Thanks for posting this as I've applied this Hotfix to my own system and things are looking even better. I have new high scores in both 3DMark2k3 and 2k5. These were accomplished with just a wee bit of overclocking on my video card.

..... installing the MS hotfix doesn't change anything for me enless i turn on Power saving/ or cpu throttling or other related settings, in which case, if i did have them on... windows would go kinda beserk and games would fall appart...

Without them on.... generally things work good.... but the fix doesn't do anything more.. and no, it's not specific to AMD.... it just so happens there are way more AMD Dual core users out there....

How would i disable it lol? And the hot fix did not work. What i find strange is that this cpu 100% only effects medal of honor, other games run fine.
