Matrix Path of Neo - code vision not working right
Is anyone else having the problem of code vision NOT working properly in PoN?
I have it on 2 PC's here. One shows code vision normally when you pause the game and the other (PC in sig) only shows Neo, items and other people, but not the walls in code vision. Both systems are essentially the same, but with a different motherboard.... Anyone have a clue as to why this happens or what I can do to fix it? Using Cat 5.13's. |

have you patched the game recently?
if not, try reverting to the cat 5.12's and see if that helps |

Hmm...I tried the 5.11-12-13....all show no walls in code vision, but otherwise plays fine.
It's just strange that 2 PC's whose only difference is a motherboard (other is an Abit VA20), the fact that the other has a AIW 9800 and the size of the harddrives vary, and that's it, would act so differently. I've even tried goofing around in BIOS to see if some different settings might fix it. One setting I never messed with is the three settings under AGP drive control. I just leave that in auto because I don't have a clue as to what I would even consider setting them to. Unfortunately, I don't rem the name of the 3 settings right off hand since I'm typing this on the PC in question...... This KV7 m/b is the first I've ever seen with more than just one setting for AGP drive control. Under the 'AGP Driving Control' setting is: x - AGP Driving Value 00 x - AGP Pad Drive Delay 02 x - AGP Strob Drive Strength 02 (strob IS what it says )I wonder if changing those settings would make a difference. Apparently, if I set it to manual, I can set the 2 digit number to whatever I want, but I don't know what "safe" numbers I could possibly change them to. This is really bugging me, because I read at the Atari forums that 'code vision' becomes necessary later in the game and I'm afraid it will interfere with my ability to complete the levels that require it. The PC that the game "works" on is a noisy bastard (loud CPU fan) that wasn't really put into use for playing games. So naturally it plays it correctly, whereas my normal gaming rig (in my sig) won't. ![]()

Both PC's have it ON and run very stable that way....no crashes. I'll try turning it off....
EDIT: Didn't make a difference. Man!!!! THIS BLOWS!!! ARRRRG!!!

Alrighty then....
It has degraded from maddening to annoying and somewhat amusing now. First, here'e the basic specs of the "other" PC: Abit VA20 motherboard AMD 3200 (400 fsb) AIW Radoen 9800pro SB Audigy 1gig PC 3200 RAM 2- 200gig HDD's 17" CRT monitor 450watt Enermax PSU (I think )Both PC's are currently running the 5.12's...but I haven't seen any real difference between Catalyst revisions in this game, so it's not ATI's fault. I've been messing around with both systems and looking for differences in this game. Here's something kinda interesting. On the other PC, when the video cutscenes play, the subtitles are out of sinc and lag far behind, but otherwise cause no real problem. And I have "code vision". On my PC (in sig), I have NO "code vision", but the subtitles stay in sinc with the video. Those subtitles I consider sorta-kinda necessary since the volume level varies so much, but I really don't care if they're out of sinc, especially if actual gameplay functions correctly. So....the trick now is to make the subtitles go out of sinc with the videos on MY rig, and that will fix the "code vision", right? Anyway, I think, somehow, this is has got to be a motherboard issue. My brother-in-law also has a KV7 motherboard set up much like the one in my sig, and he also has no code-vision in this game. Our main PC is a KV7 too (again, much the same setup). Maybe I should install PoN in THAT and see if it does it there too..... But this brings me back to those 3 settings under AGP Driving Control....I think the answer is there (my *telepathetic powers* are tingling ) I just need help determining what I might be able to set them too in manual without whacking out the PC and possibly fixing the problem. I mean, I'm not even sure what effect those settings might have on my precious 9800pro let alone what it might do to the rig or the game. Could it be my RAM? Mine is the only PC with 1T command rate RAM...... ![]() EDIT: Nope, setting the RAM to 2T made no difference iin the game. Also tried setting the RAM to a burst length of 8 instead of 4. That just made the graphics even more glitchy, but it STILL didn't fix the "code vision"...... ...back to those three AGP Driving Control settings. Can anyone provide some pointers on those 3 settings? Last edited by Rayder; Jan 6, 2006 at 02:15 PM. |
