A Common CS Source Problem, Help!

Alright guys here is the situation i am currently facing, ever since i got my new laptop, i installed counter strike source through steam and everytime in a game i want to alt-tab out and chat with friends or something, i get this error message. CMESHDX8 Lock Vertex Buffer: failed to lock vertex buffer, then my cs source just closes and i have to relaunch it which can be very tedious at times.

my video card model is an x600 ati 256 dedicated mem card, and I am using the 5.13 catalyst (Patje), what I want to know is if this problem happens when you install counter strike source through steam and not through the cd.

All I want to do is to get this problem fixed because its really aggravating me

Help would be greatly appreciated.

its vavle & steam... Disdn;'t used to do that a long time ago before some updates
