Recent CS update...

Ok, since the last big update I'm stuck with a problem. Now all HDR maps don't work. I thought it was just militia at first but then the others do it too. This unfortuinatly still happens with HDR is disabled.

I get some interesing but weird effects, such as text writing over my radar and triangles pointing where they should not. The result is of course unplayable. If I were running the maps in HDR I'd understand, but I think this is just another valve fuckup. Anyone else have this or even better yet a fix?

If you are using them, make sure to remove any tweaks. One thing I've noticed is that if you use an autoexec.cfg file to load tweaks to the game that a large portion of them will get imported into the config.cfg file. So, even if you remove the tweaks from the autoexec.cfg file they are still in the config.cfg file (this can also be the case if you are using any command line tweaks as well).

Infact, I just ran into this problem where an old tweak for HL2/CS:S crashed CS:S on me causing a memory violation. The only way to fix the problem was to delete the config.cfg file (cuz I couldn't figure out which tweaked pooched it). 'Course, this also removed any configurations I had for video and what not, but that is a small price to pay to actually play the game again (I had thought the worst). This same thing happened to me a few updates ago where another tweak for HL2 was seriously corrupting all textures. Again, deleting the config.cfg file fixed the issue.

ive had no problems with any of it.....HDR on bloom 4xaa 16xaf

delete you local folder, gointo the the youre@mailadress in your
steam folder, find the folder for CS delete it and the game will "reinstall"
/unpack againwhen you restart steam and try to lauch it.

other wise it probubly one of the many bugs vavle rools out...

Tipstaff was the closest, but not quite. It was apparently somethign to do with the AF optomization in ATT. for some reason it only flubs up HDR maps, but when its disabled everything is fine.

It's strange, but the optomization only gives a little boost to FPS so I guess I can live without it.
