What Old Game Would You Like to See Remade?

My older son played the original Sid Meier's PIRATES on his Amiga years ago. He played that game for over 3 years.

As many of you already know, the developers completely upgraded the game and re-released it last year. I finally got around to getting it a few days ago at Best Buy for $29.99 using some Christmas Gift Cards.

I can see why someone would enjoy playing this game. It requires a lot of attention and is FUN! I can vaguely remember watching him play that game with just simply icons on the screen that indicated what was happening. Well, the new one, of course, has animated graphics for each of the areas of action.

With this in mind, what old game would you like to see remade with today's technology? (I know it most likely WON'T ever happen, but, we can always dream, can't we? )

Can't say old..

I'd love to see metroid games show up on the PC using the latest in graphics and AI technology....

BUT,

old game, hmm. Double Dragon 2... the ultimate fighter rpg kinda game... fun as freaking hell, love the fact that you can be fighting the bad guys and land a nasty hit on your friend your fighting with hurtting them a pile..lol.... that game so much good memories... pissing myself laughing cause of the halarity of the game in some instances.

I mean, who couldn't laugh at the rather simple but obvious animations of kicking your buddy and him keeling over in pain. OR accidently beating the shit outa them.

Even funnier to see how they moved and jumped and fell.... I recently played DD2 with my cousin for old times sake. I had to leave the room cause he was having a hard time in a certain spot, and i find it so halarious to watch, i'm laughing right now lol. Him swearing and never giving up to complete a simple task even though it's a complete pain because of the way they made it.

uh, the OLD NES games.... where the challanges were obvious to what you needed to do, but the way it was all designed to make it difficult as hell.

Uh scorched earth was remade... Not a terribly good remake but a remake none the less.

I'd like to see a ton of games remade, but I'd want more/different things to happen on the game's plot progression. I'll use the example of fallout. they could to the whole 3d graphics type thing, but I'd be more impressed iif they made more random encounters, more towns, a bigger map and such.

Basically I don't just want to see a remake, I want to see an add on. I mean nostalgia only keeps a players interest so long. If their going to be ripping off the creativity from an old game they might as well add some of their own right?

Bard's Tale, they made a remake but it's nothing like the original, so how's that a remake?
DoubleDragon was a blast to play simultaneously with a mate.
Prince of Persia, I think Ubi did a great job with the new ones.

Old school POP. Hell yah. Speaking of which, another 2 series that comes to mind would be Flashback, or it's sequel, Fade to Black, as well as Out of This World. Flashback is one of my all time favorite games.

oohhh, I'm with tipstaff, I'd love to see Syndicate remade

that game was awesome on our old 486

wouldn't mind a remake of secret of monkey island either, although I'm still enjoying the original

They are my 2 favorite console rpg's of all time. I've played through them both so many times that i've lost count. Flawless gameplay on both, and yes, kefka was a hell of an enemy

Indeed, they were quite immersive. The only real challenging games i've played. The true age of innovation. The games themselves were like masterpieces by von gough. The only games that are STILL challenging, and i can still play repeadatley and never get bored.

FreeSpace (both of them), Rollcage 1+2, Incoming (for my bro) with updated graphics would be great. Any and all singleplayer Final Fantasy games updated and released for PC. An updated and enhanced NFS: Porsche. Another Crimson Skies for PC.

I would love the Burnout series on PC....

cswiger is on a distinguished road

If LucasArts repackaged the original Star Wars X-Wing and Tie-Fighter games using a sequel to the game engine in SW: Alliance, that would be a fine thing indeed.

System Shock 2 and Freespace are great games, but they are still quite playable on a modern system (they're not quite ready to be remade, or at least FS 2 is OK, FS 1 is only 640x480).

But if you want to bring back some truely great games, you're going to have to go back to things like Archon or Rescue Raiders or even Repton

System Shock 1 definately,
Trespasser with an improved engine would be amazing,
I like Tipstaffs suggestion of Syndicate. I wonder what Magic Carpet would be like on todays engines as well,
I wish they'd remake Draken1-2 for the PC, never played no.2 because it was for the playstation only, but no.1 was simply fantastic,
Isn't it about time for another Elite remake? Elite4's been in the works forever,
Cannon Fodder?
Beneath a Steel Sky! That would be so perfect for the Halflife2 Engine!

Thinking further back...

All Dizzy games

Too many great games to remember!
