Dh Review: RedOctane Afterburner Metal Dance Pad

Put on some weight over Christmas and need to shed a few pounds? Well if you like dancing then take a look at Andy's latest review.

"While there are “soft” dance mats mad out of cheap foam materials, dancers who wish to play the more difficult songs without an endless bombardment of problems should invest in a metal dance pad. The Afterburner Metal Dance Pad, from the makers who also brought us In the Groove, is prided for its multiplatform capabilities, increased arrow sensitivity and its sturdy metal frame. Purchasing one of these dance pads will cost around $200 plus shipping, so it’s definitely a good idea to make sure if the Afterburner is right for you."

I had a metal pad like this (but not high quality brand like redoctane) a few years ago. I play on my toes in socks and the plexiglass/plastic covering the arrows did indeed start cracking. By now it's just a plastic mess, akin to those wired-glass windows after they've been busted.
Yeah, the cobalt flux pads are as durable as they come. There's a video floating around the net of an SUV driving over one, and then immediately afterwards some guy gets an AA on his first song

A big problem with the flux pads is the price though. One pad with the arcade mod (recessed arrows) is going to cost like $375 shipped

The Afterburner is a great pad and I hope mine doesn't die on me any time soon, but there are better pads out there if you're willing to fork over a lot of cash
