Best Vid card for $100 or less?

My Nvidia 5200 FX is getting old. It worked great playing EQ2 but my screen goes black and I crash everytime I try to play D&DOnline Beta. I've updated my system with all the latest drivers and windows updates etc, tried all kinds of different settings and have finally given up. It's probably just bad programming on DDO's part, but my 5200 could use updating.

Anyone have any feedback on which of these vid cards do you think is the best for $100 or less?

My system is a P4 2.6ghz with 1gig of ram running XP.

Has anyone had the same problem?

For budget gaming I found this one:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102584

An X700 AGP 4x/8x Sapphire (Powered by ATI) retail version card for $105.00 (110.00 with shipping...).

$120, I would shell out 20 more bucks for this. There is a $110 AOPEN version but I think EVGA is worth 10 more bucks.

Two of my non-gamer friends bought 6600 GT's for their computers and it's working great for them

6600GT would be the best choice possible.

That's probably your best bet, and a hell of a deal

Right on thanks for the advice, that definately looks like it would scream past my old 5200!

I just looked on ebay to see what they had and I see a few people selling that card in almost new condition, the card wasn't compatible with their system etc. I might be able to get it at 1/2 the price.

My motherboard box says: P4 Titan 865PE fsb dual channel DDR400 AGP8X
So I need the AGP version not the PCI?

I looked that one up. There's a bunch selling on ebay for $75 with free shipping. I lean more towards nvidia. Is that card any better than the 6600GT?

for your price range your best bet is to shop for 6600GT's. You can get them for the 125-150 range usually and find sales for about 115 or so. I've seen them at bestbuy and compusa for 99. after rebate

Well do yall think i got ripped off. Considering I don't know all the details of Vid cards. But the guy at FRY's said it was slightly better than i think a 6600GT Nvida or something like that which was going for 250

I found it on that site:[clicky]

And i am sure it was 80bucks after rebates (insta , mail-in)

lol, fry's.....what a joke.

Compared to what you can get online, the 9600xt was a complete rip and only a bit better than the 5200. It has more features etc but I think if you would've used those links we gave you, you would've been better off.

and in no way shape or form is the 9600xt competitive with the 6600gt. Thats the main reason I loathe Fry's. I can't understand what half their salesmen are saying and they try to pull dishonest shit like that.

Their prices are pretty bad as well, I had a 50 dollar gift certificate to Fry's and I sold it to my dad for 50 because I really couldn't stand the prices.
