CSS stress test - Accurate reflection?
My son complains muchly about fps drop in css - when busy with firefight. Drops into the low 40's - high 30's. I have been trying different things and am wondering if an increase in fps in stress test will reflect an actual increase in game play?
We have an old system p 2.4c at 3.o ghz, p4p800, 1.5 gb ram, x800xtpe. I ask as futher oc cpu and disabling hyperthreading seem to help. Reducing resolution and aa, af really make no difference after a certain point. Also any tweaks or drivers would be nice to hear about. Tried steam forums, but search is busted there.

Probably not. Your problem is, I believe, that network latencies of everyone participating in the game affect the framerate. So, when there is a lot of firefight, and many players are involved, the framerate decreases.

I read that the last patch to CS:S was causing the huge fps loss.
