Draw distance? I don't recall there being a draw distance problem in UT99. Why aren't your settings at High? X600 PRO should be able to handle High. Some games tie the draw distance into detail settings.

It could also be the fact that people are just spamming shots? I know some people do that.

I'm not entirely sure on the whole UT engine and all, but I know that with Counter Strike this happens when you have your fps_max command set higher than your monitor's refresh rate. You lose some frames per second since it's higher than what the monitor can actually handle.

Try adjusting stuff with your max fps (frames per second) if UT has something like that

Also, if you have Vsync turned off, that could be it (I'm just throwing ideas out here, if you don't understand some things I/somebody else can explain)

No there not spaming shots
Im always on the walls and they have enough time 2 target me and fire be4 i see them.
The reason i have it on low is because im use 2 lower end cards
Also im playing Instagib

I could be running and no1 is in my screen
Then some1 just comes out of nowhere trying 2 kill me :s
Or i can turn around real fast and theres some1 there when they wasnt there be4

I got Vsynce turned On(UT Settings)
My refresh rate on my desktop is set at 75
But with Omega Driver it says like 200 (In yellow text)
I dont see anywhere 2 max your frame rate 2 75 in the UT settings

Or wait Wait For Vertical Sync was turned Off
I turned it on and got 75 Frames but my mouse felt funny like it was sliding

Hmm.. well I didn't really see anything on this site (http://dx.ampednews.com/?page=content&id=243) about changing the FPS, but while in the game, could you type into the console "STAT FPS" (if it doens't work, try without quotes)? And after that, tell us the numbers that show up

In the ATI Control Panel, there should be an option for Vsync Always On (then again, I'm still running the 4.12 Omegas ) Set it to Always On in the Control Panel, and see if that fixes your problem.

With it turned on in the Control Panel it says 12-13 Frames
But the downside is i cant aim with it cause my mouse has a sliding affect when its turned on in the Control Panel.

But it says my frames is at 75(In Yeallow text)

Yea, that's kinda confusing me, because with about 12 FPS, the game is so choppy it gets very hard to play

I think that Omega fps showing would be accurate..

It's weird, because on this site (http://www.macupdate.com/reviews.php?id=14155&os=macos) the people are talking about 30-80 FPS on a GeForce4 Ti on UT2004. Your X600 Pro should be murdering that FPS, especially on UT99..

though that site is Mac

Another thing that could be wrong is the video card driver. Have you had problems with it before?

Well, if UT2k4 runs fine, then it's not your video card drivers. I think there's a problem with UT99 itself. I'd say reinstall it, but you might want to wait for somebody else's opinion on this.

Ah! After going over that first site again, I think that UT calles it "tick rates" instead of "frame rates". So, in UT99 type these in the console, and say what both come up as

GETMAXTICKRATE

GETCURRENTTICKRATE

That's what I'd say. Are you still getting the problem with people seeing you before you see them?
