PS3 Pre-Orders Sell Out in Minutes

The nation's largest gaming retailer GameStop began taking pre-orders Tuesday for the PlayStation 3 at both its GameStop and EB Games locations across the US, however in most cases the stores sold through their scant allotments almost immediately.

"Due to extremely limited supply, we expect to deplete this allocation very quickly, most likely in minutes," GameStop said.

Now expect to see many of these pre-orders listed on ebay for 3 times the actual cost.And they will still sell.

Sony is so unoriginal.. Microsoft already did the "limited supply" thing with the xbox360.

Not hard to sell out of a few dozen units

A buddy of mine who runs a gamestop (and his girlfriend who runs another) say they haven't seen such little interest in a product in a long time. Both were allocated something like 4 and 2 units respectively, and its not like we live in the middle of nowhere, there is a large market here. I am very interested to see how Sony is going to turn this around.

Well EVERYONE!!!! I waited 13 hours to get a PS3 last night. I got there at 9pm and the store opened at 10am. So my cousin and me got 2 pre orders and are going to sell them on ebay. We are going to sell one pre order one and save the other until the official launch date! It was fun camping out and we were second in line with a total of 7 possible ps3's!

I have no interest in the PS3 really, and only because i cannot afford the games and definately cannot afford the system. Ill be buying a Wii on the day it comes out, and probibly wont bother preordering as theres supposed to be enough to go around.
