TheBlackCat is an unknown quantity at this point

Strange, you would have thought they would have checked this by now. This doesn't make it any different than the 360, but the PS3 was advertised as being compatible with all PS and PS2 products.

I thought the PS3 had PS2 hardware built in. How could this sort of thing happen if that was the case? (this is not a rhetorical question, I am genuinely curious)

It'll probably improve with future updates via their on-line service.

it just inherited a PS2 problem.

from what i can tell, the new slim PS2s cant properly play all PS2 games, and the ps3 is useing the ps2s tech in it.

I see. So what is so different about the slimline PS2? And will it have firmware upgrades to correct it?

dont know for sure, but from what it soudns like things will continue to be fixed with continues firm ware updates.

even saw something about some games may get patches of some form just so they will work on the ps3.

ahh these minor problems can arise, as long as its not some crazy disc read error.

im gonna consider purchasing one once i heard about all the issues with it.
