Gears of War on PC?

In its holiday issue, soon to be on store shelves, PC Gamer may have inadvertently announced Gears of War for Windows. On page 28 of the Holiday 2006 issue, a display stand photographed on the Microsoft campus shows Gears of War among several upcoming PC games.

Microsoft could not confirm that Gears is in fact coming to PC and the company has no current plans for an announcement in the near future. The article in PC Gamer discusses the future of Windows Vista and Microsoft's efforts to support the new OS with high-profile games.

Though Gears of War is not guaranteed to arrive on Windows, the sighting raises hope. There's no doubt that Gears for Windows would be a hit. And if we're smart enough to figure that out, so is Microsoft.

I've heard rumors of this for the past several months. I think microsoft should keep at least a couple good games exclusive for the 360 although I'm glad their not cuz I wouldn't mind playing this on PC.

Was this even a question. They have to give people a reason to switch over to Vista and Halo 2 isn't nearly enough.

Yep that's exactly it. MS can put some megatitles on Vista only DX10 this will be more than enough to get any gamer to switch to Vista. I'm not sure if Gears of War will be enough but if they throw in a few more 360 exclusive titles I'll be interested.

Think of it people, it would make more sens to buy X360 for 400$ than to start buying good enough PC to run Vista and then pay 300$ for Vista aswell. Even if we already have PCs that run Vista well enough, I'd still go and buy X360. XP satisfies all my needs and I am not going over to Vista in next few years.

I don't agree with that. I like what I have seen of Vista. You are also, only, going to be able to use Live Anywhere (If that's the final name) on Vista. Live Anywhere will allow you to join the live network with your pc and play cross-platform games between the 360 and PC. This appeals to me and I will supporting the Vista only games that have this feature.

Also, everyone seems to pick the most expensive version of Vista when it is talked about. Here is the price list:

Full Version
•Vista Ultimate $399
•Vista Business $299
•Vista Home Premium $239
•Vista Home Basic $199
Upgrade Version
•Vista Ultimate Upgrade $259
•Vista Business Upgrade $199
•Vista Home Premium Upgrade $159
•Vista Home Basic Upgrade $99.95

Not everyone is going to need to buy the full version. Not everyone will need the "Ultimate" version. You also need to have another OS to compare the price to. Take OSX. They seem to put out an update every year. (Not mandatory, I know) Their price is $129. So multiply that by 5 years,

129 * 5 = $645

Vista will only incur an out of pocket cost once. Service packs and updates are free. So, to me the price is already looking pretty nice.

We also have to look at what people are willing to spend on computer hardware. A lot of the people here have very up-to-date rigs. If you are willing to drop $2,000-$3,000 on hardware, I don't see why the price of Vista is an issue...

Hmm...Yes...Good point you're having. But I don't have so much cash to lay out for superb rig and for Vista. Ofcourse, if I had, i'd get new PC with Vista and X360 aswell

. But I'm talking about my situation :P Not a millionaire, so I'd have to get 1 thing. X360 would be smarter "investment" for me :P

True. I understood what you meant. I was just pointing out some of the advantages of moving to Vista and that the cost would be as much as you were willing to spend. I like console games, to an extent, and I usually find myself playing something on the PC more often than not.

As you can see; My PC is not that great. In fact it's getting a little long in the tooth. I will be building my next box with Vista in mind.
