The long-awaited arrival of the PlayStation 3 marks Sony's entry into the next-generation console market. Does the PS3 live up to Sony's high hopes for it?

"This is what Sony has been hyping for the past two years, what is supposed to begin the high definition era, and what is intended to destroy the competition. This is the Trojan horse by which Sony hopes to get Blu-ray into as many homes as possible. The stakes are much higher than for a simple gaming system; this is a format war for the home theater of tomorrow. It is also the first time Sony has gotten serious about online play, and they're hoping you're going to want to buy a lot of content through their new system. Sony has a lot riding on the PS3... but you know that already."

Are these guys serious? imagine your PC closing games you're playing when you eject the disc, especially when it's a multi-disc game.

Every playstation works exactly like PS3 on this matter as many other machines out there. That's no news and i'm glad it's that way (you don't want it booting out of games when you haven't saved it yet). BTW, many things he's trying to make a big deal out of could be fixed later on a firmware update.

Could doesn't mean will... And honestly, with such a hefty pricetag, I'd expect the mother of all consoles!

I think most of them will because they're glitches that no way are supposed to be there (some are actually features, e.g. BG download). The real problem is the scaling issues that should have been fixed by design and there is no easy solution for that. About the price i agree it's high for a game console but it's not for a blu-ray player. That's personal opinion after all since it relies on what you're going to use it for.
