Rather than demo Battlestations: Midway in the traditional way, Eidos decided to give the gaming press a first-hand look at their upcoming air and sea warfare game by thrusting us directly into heated competitive combat on Xbox Live, pitting editor against editor in battle over the Pacific. Our tournament involved four-on-four gameplay on the Islands of Solomon map, where American and Japanese forces were tasked with destroying enemy naval bases and key targets like the aircraft carrier Yorktown. Representing GameSpy on the high seas and in the air were Editors Li C. Kuo, Patrick Joynt, and Gerald Villoria.
