Nintendo sued over Wiimote straps

A nationwide class-action lawsuit has been filed against Nintendo over the "defective nature" of the Nintendo Wii controller. Filed in US District Court for the Western District of Washington earlier this month, the lawsuit describes the original strap on the Wiimote as "ineffective for its intended use" and cites reports of the strap breaking and causing damage.

I take it is this is happening in the USA? if so, what the big deal. you get sued for farting over there.

I just find it stupid that...

No one is really striving like this for sonies lack of working PS3s...

I don't know i think both cases are stupid..

Someone complaining about something that is working flawlessly, but thier own methods of using it are destroying thier own stuff. While something that is working completely unreliably, gets no ill attention really in the same matter.

Sue for a working product, Don't sue for a non-working product... anyone getting a little confused over this?

I mean i've gotten ahold of these wiimotes just to check em out, i've even took a good look at the wrist straps, they are damn good for most of anyone, only phycos that get violent with them would break them easily. OR they were purchased as a flawed strap.

There was obvisously a fault with the straps, Nintendo recalled them, and the new straps shipped from the beginning in the EU and from early December in the states, so they realised pretty fast the straps weren't adequate. I'm sure Nintendo have their asses covered in the small print, and while I agree the lawsuit is stupid, this isn't a flawless product, it's a product with a very big flaw, which has caused a lot of damage for consumers, and not just those inspired by Johnny Knoxville.

sigh I hope that these lawsuits don't go anywhere. It's complete negligence on the user's part imo.
