GH Review: MotorStorm (PS3)

Read The Review Here
___________________

MotorStorm has been one of the most anticipated launch titles of Sony’s Playstation 3. Early trailers showed an almost photorealistic driving experience with crashes that rivaled those seen in Burnout, all of it taking place in Monument valley. At that time most of us were already skeptic about such trailers, but nevertheless the game showed promise. With most of the PS3 launch being focused on the hardware itself the release of MotorStorm was not advertised all that much. Still, the game quickly became a hit in Japan where it was exclusively released. While waiting for the Euro/US release which is currently slated for March we decided to take a look at the Japanese version to see what awaits us then.

Yea, like they expect me to take that seriously. That has got to be one of the cheesiest Intro trailers I have ever seen in my entire life. Its just racing in dirt! Jesus!

Good review btw.

Edit: Despite my inability to take the game seriously it still looks pretty good, if the PS3 at the EB I worked at was not frozen I would play it.

That intro is absolutely terrible. Good grief you'd think it was a hollywood blockbuster or trailer for madmax4. Other than that the game looks pretty good, I'm more a track/street racer but that looks as though it could be fun, especially multiplayer. One thing that did stand out was the pretty poor animation on the motorbike rider, once when he makes the hand gesture and the second when he appears to throw a punch. As for the sound anything that has Nirvana in the playlist will always get the thumbs up from me.

The demo is fun. I'm glad that they are adding multiplayer as that makes the wait worth while.

Actually I had mad max and road warrior in mind when I first saw the intro too lol.

@Z - yes it died very badly and sounds like an engine turbine when its on. Our Sony Rep. insists its not the system but the disk...

have to say looks like an awesome game - just good "clean" fun

Is it one of those games that is really missing the rumble?

I personally dislike the feel of the controller, as it is way too light for my taste. I'm sure if the controller was heavier I'd like it more.
But to answer your question, having the controller rumbling would be a nice addition, especially if you want to control the vehicle via the tilt (six axis motion sensing).

I must say, I couldn't agree more with ya! The controller is imho way too light too, not giving that sense of assurance that the older dual analog controller was able to give.

And for the rumbling, well I can't really comment for motorsport but common, everyone likes rumbling

Anyways, as for the review, great read Wh0_Knows, excellent as always!
