The story of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is a hypothesis based on real events that took place in the 1980's

(actually the date on the site looks odd, they said that "Year 2012. Six years passed since the time of the Second catastrophe to have made the April events of 1986 fade." I don't think that 2012 is 6 years after 1986

Story is based on disaster that happened on 26th of April 1986. I like to call that day the Big Boom day.

Btw, I know a lot of people who were sent there to control that disaster. Health ruined for the rest of their lives...
