n this exclusive report, we talk to Screen Digest's Ed Barton, whose latest research has found that publishers will see an "increasingly difficult environment" for making returns on next-gen investments, and claimed that PlayStation 3 will hold the largest market share by 2010, with the Wii a distant third.

The Screen Digest report at which Gamasutra has been given a sneak peek, 'Next Generation Consoles: Games publishing, hardware analysis and forecasts to 2010', is additionally estimating $13.9 billion in global sales of next generation software by 2009, with the overview comment: "PS2-style dominance will not be repeated in the next generation hardware market: we anticipate that competition will be far more intense with market shares split on a territorial basis."

ROFL, I smell sony funded PR bull. So far Xbox360 and wii are outselling PS3. Wich is once again harder to find. With Wii hard to find. and xbox 360 stocking the selfs. People are buying 360's still hot n heavy. ps3 is still in the last place! behind ps2! and they thi k by discontenueing ps2 thier helping? thier #1 money maker has been canceled , lol

Having the limited backwards compatilibity on the "new" PS3 in europe doesn't help, either.

What kind of report is this LOL.

I find this so funny to read. Everyone I talk to is so happy they did not buy a PS3 the only thing that system is good for is playing back Blu-ray movies. Since they have a very limited game collection with not to many PS3 only games coming to it I say $600 is a complete waste of money!

That would be the day when Sony wins the market with their over priced BS. Just look at what Sony is trying to do? People just don't see it and I with many others have. Sony is just trying to squeeze every penny they can out of us before they find their limit.

PS3 = $500 to 600 (the most a console has ever been)
Blu-ray Players= $1,000 OMG what idiot would pay that when you can buy a HD-DVD player for half the cost?

Thats why I no longer support Sony as a company because they want you to spend so much money just to enjoy a product.

When you buy the PS3 what does it come with? Well the console, power cord, standard non hd hook up's and not sure if it still does but it came with one of the worst looking blu-ray movies out and a controller that does not rumble... That to be does not make it worth $600...

Sorry Sony I bought the PSP from you and that was such a Flop I already see it going on with the PS3. There is NO WAY Sony will get the main market with this system.

The only bad thing I have to report about myself is I bought 2 of these with my bro and cousin. But not to play lol we sold them and made a good deal of money! Thank you Sony for the great amount of money you gave us!
