Next week the curtain will Rise on the 2007 Game Developers Conference. While it's never been as important as the once-mighty E3 (RIP), with that now in the gaming expo graveyard this year's GDC is going to fire a few extra fireworks from its tailpipe.

Many publishers still approach the event for what it was intended for; recruitment, but some games companies - especially the big three - will be using GDC 2007 to get their big announcements onto the streets before the (far smaller) E3 event in July and the ever-growing Leipzig Games Convention in August.
