Guild Wars Expansion and Sequel Interview @ InternetGames

As many of you are probably aware, ArenaNet has recently announced an expansion and a sequel for their award-winning Guild Wars series. The expansion, Eye of the North, is scheduled for release this winter and will feature high-level content for current Guild Wars players. Guild Wars 2 is also being planned, but don't expect to get your hands on it before 2009 or 2010. I had a chance to talk to AreaNet co-founders Jeff Strain and Mike O'Brien about their upcoming projects.

cant see them going thru 08 & 09 without another addon/exp release.

My guess is you see them release some new areas free and available to all. They did it with the game a number of months before the release of the first expansion, worked out nice I thought.

i agree, what i was thinking. looking forward to gw2. the whole thing of no improvement for cahrcter after 20th is really turning ne away from game(i have all 3)i jus tdont get playing to make your character to look better. that is the only goal left after getting max armor & wpns(wich happans fairly early) & finishing the campaigns.
very good game but severe limitations on character imo.

Agreed, while I am far from over with Nightfall or Factions (I took 9 months to play WoW, and now I'm back), I don't enjoy grinding for better looking armor. I love the game, and everything they have said so far about GW2 sounds excellent to me. I fear they go the route of WoW, and 95% of the other MMO's out there, but so far, that doesn't seen the way they are heading. If the idea they have pans out for GW2, it just might be the game that 'fixes' the issues with the genre as a whole.
