When it comes to games based on films based on books, perhaps the closest thing to S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl is The Godfather.

Inspired by the film Stalker, from Russia’s influential post-war director Andrei Tarkovsky, which itself was based on the 1972 sci-fi novel Roadside Picnic, by brothers Arkady and Boris Strugatsky, Stalker can be seen as the Soviet equivalent of Mario Puzo and Francis Ford Coppola’s combined output.
