The 49 Best Sequel-Less Games @ Games.net
Source: Games.net
__________ For us, games are about fun. We explore new worlds, frag foes in multiplayer mayhem, level up and play just one more turn before bed. For publishers, games are just disk-shaped cash. When a game does well, you can be sure you'll see sequels, expansion packs and remakes to harvest more cash from a successful start. Flops, on the other hand, never see the light of day again. I've played about half of them. Going by that list my most wanted would be:
Blade Runner (although, really, how many times can you create a game that plays out the same mystery?) Sacrifice (there was a sequel in the works, but it got canned at the last minute cuz Shiny were given the keys to the Matrix license) Freelancer (simply because I love this style of game) Beyond Good & Evil (and for Gods sake, Microsoft, get your ass in gear, cuz this has got to be the ONLY game that doesn't work on the 360!!) Pyschonauts (this game is not only beautiful to look at, funny as hell, but it was a trip to play.. in more mental ways than one) Master of Magic (another game that almost had a sequel thanks to Stardock, but was not to be, thanks to Atari) |

I've played most of the PC ones, and a few of the (S)NES and PS1 games.

Master of Magic was one of the finest games ever IMHO. I would love to see a remake of this just to bring it up to date for graphics & such. Considering everything you could do in the game and when it came out (early 90's I think). I still have a copy of it set up to be played on an emmulator. It's terribly addictive.

Where the hell is
The Guardian Legend http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Guardian_Legend IMO, one of the top games ever, utterly amazing cosidering when it was launched (graphic/Music/Sound/Controls/Everything wise) Someone go grab JNES and find a rom of that game, utterly fun and brilliant, and no damn sequal for it.

Sunset Riders is a freaking great game, as was Vagrant Story, Indego Prophecy (called Fahrenheit in Europe I believe), and Beyond Good and Evil.
While Sunset Riders probably wont get a sequel due to a lack of interest in the genre (and because its an old game), the other three just didn't sell a million copies. Other than that, the three are easily some of the better games you can play. Its sad, lets hope someone picks them up and makes a sequel. |
