Sega has announced that Sonic the Hedgehog will be returning to Sony's PSP this fall in the handheld exclusive Sonic Rivals 2, with a new battle mode and other new features.

A sequel to last year's 2D platformer, Sega says Sonic Rivals 2 will feature a "revamped rival 'jostling' gameplay system for tighter head-to-head competition," with upgraded power-ups and range weapons.
