A Circuit City advertising flyer showing an upcoming $100 discount on PlayStation 3 consoles may in fact be a retail-wide price adjustment by Sony, suggests internet reports today.

Rumors originated from scans of the ad, which lists the console with a price point of $499.99 as of July 15. "$100 price break," it reads. No mention was made of the 20GB PlayStation 3 model, available at launch but recently dropped entirely from certain territories including North America.

About time the PS3 drops in price. Honestly I'd wish they would drop it by at least $150 but I guess that was just a wish afterall.

I still wouldn't buy a PS3 even if it was $100 cheaper than a 360. The Blu Ray player is about all that's good in a PS3.

They finally realized that they can't coast through the first year on reputation. They're bleeding from a major artery, their exclusive titles, and they need to get systems into homes asap so they can redeem some of those titles and leverage them in the future.

You shouldn't beat on the ps3 so much, its actually an impressive piece of hardware. Sure, there are almost no games out for it atm but some nice exclusives are coming very soon

I actually enjoy using the ps3 more -even if it does get by far the least use for now- as it is cooler running, much quieter, and it has never given me any troubles in the middle of a gaming session (only thing I hate about my 360)
