A patch is now available for NHL 08, EA's recently released hockey sequel. According to this forum post, the new version enables the unlocking of alternate jerseys for those with a secret code, before proceeding to blow the secret by also supplying the code. The game can be updated automatically, but those interested in manual patches can find them for download on The Patches Scrolls.
