Battlefield 3?
Source: Bluesnews
_______________ Breaking: Battlefield 3 Leaked Info on DigitalBattle has what are purported to be leaked details on Battlefield 3, which would be the next installment in the military shooter series (thanks GameSpot). This unconfirmed report (EA responded to questions about this with a "no comment"), is said to be based on a Adobe Acrobat document intended for investors, and lists details, including a return to the near-present setting of BF2, and word on weapons, vehicles, and classes. According to their report the game will be announced in January, released before the end of 2008, and will possibly involve a public beta during the summer. |

Cool, NOT!!!!
From what I have seen I would expect that Frontlines : Fuel of War will be the battlefield replacement. Given EA's lackluster support for BF2 it raises doubts as to DICE's competency in creating good games. (They are good at making buggy games though) Releasing Special Forces as an expansion when the features it contained were promised to be in the BF2 release was not cool, but the worst part was when EA made the ultimate effort to milk the cash cow by allowing the expansion weapons in the original game making the game become extremely unbalanced. Let's not forget how EA handled the acquisition of Trauma Studios (Makers of the Desert Combat mod) and how not long after the release of BF2 EA pretty much closed their doors. Now they are back making Frontlines. I will be on that bandwagon. I will have to pass on anything related to Battlefield in the future. |

OMG!
If they dare to release BF3 with anything close to BF2's game engine consider it a bust and not even worth it for $10. BF2 was fun but the engine so was laggy and out of sync along with the number of bugs to high to count it made it get old really fast. After playing that game I lost respect for EA. I really really really hope they fix what they forgot to do in bf2! I forgot about 2142 since I did not bother playing it because they were charging $50 for a "Mod" or bf2 with new guns and maps on the crappy ass engine. I played the demo noticed it was the same and quit. All the same bugs and lag problems where still there. I find it funny because a company like EA that rushes games out the door must wonder why no one buys the engine to make other games on. Look at Unreal engine many many games are made off of that one same with the half life engine. They are made off it because it looks amazing, runs great and does not have half the bugs BF2 did! |

It's using the same engine as Battlefield: Bad Company we'll just have to wait for that game to see how well it performs.
