Everyone loves a good popcorn flick. And in videogame terms, Gears of War is a great one, not necessarily loaded with depth but still a wildly entertaining ride, thanks to nonstop action, a fresh take on traditional FPS combat, and impressive graphics that bring its world to life. A year after it was released on the Xbox 360, Gears of War is still one of the most best PC games of 2007.

There's a story in Gears of War, or at least the illusion of one. You play Marcus Fenix, a former soldier who's been in prison on the planet Sera, which was once home to a human civilization but is now overrun by creatures known as the Locust Horde. War has since raged for years, and the game starts with you being freed from prison by one of your former military buddies, and you quickly find yourself drafted back into service.
