Half Life - it made killing scientists almost as much fun as shooting Vortigaunts and head crabs (e.g. I'm staying here and waiting for my ... <BAM>).

Only Valve could make crabs scary, not just itchy.

I remember playing it with my Diamond Stealth S220 video card and for the first time being mesmerized by a computer game, more so than any game by ID Software. Great work Gabe!

I love Half-Life 1, not because it was a good game...not because it was ahead of its time...and not because it was the first game I played that was like a book.

No it was simply because of the scientist killing competition I had with my friends, where we would spend hours trying to beat each other's high score finding some new hidden scientist somewhere that just passes by for a second

This is the same reason I didn't like CS. Because every time we would try to play we would get banned.

HL1 & its engine, since it spawned so many great mods & the HL series itself is amazing.

doctor1: do you know who ate all the donuts?
doctor2: shut up

This one mod glitched at one point, and some enemies got stuck near a rotating door. The door opens a tiny bit, then the sound repeats a lot of times really fast (& is really loud), then for no reason the door broke off and started floating, finally rotated to its open position, but then it just flew diagonally away out of the map!

My most favoritest Valve Game...ever.

The bestest game Valve has made is Half Life2. Why? Let me tell you a story about a man named Je....no no no. Let me just tell you a story.

It was a dark and stormy night....and all through the house, a great many creatures are stirring...and they all want to kill me. No sir, I don't like it.

I'm not sure what happened, but somehow I ended up here in Ravenholm. Damned confusing signs in Albuquerque. Must have taken a wrong turn there...again. It's my understanding that nobody comes here anymore, which has me asking myself this one nagging question. What the hell am I doing here? And did that corpse hanging from that tree over there just move? No, no, just my imagination. It's dead...definately dead...and no way is it moving. I have to get a grip on myself. Maybe I'll just put a few rounds into it...just to be sure and all. Beads of sweat stream down my face, as I stare at what appears to be the only way I can go. I grip my SMG tighter as I stare into the small, creepy looking building. I just know something really scary is gonna jump out at me as soon as I go in. I'm down to 1 extra pair of clean underwear, so this could be a problem. I need a plan. After much debate, I try the best thing I can think of, and yell into the building. "Hey, I can hear you moving in there. I know you are in there, so just come on out and we'll talk this over." I wait a moment, but get no response. After staring into the building for another 15 minutes, I finally muster up what courage I have left and convince myself to go in. And, as expected, there are bad bad things waiting for me in there...and now, I have no extra pairs of clean underwear left.....

In case you missed it, it's reasons like my story above that I love half life 2. I managed to get to ravenholm just as it became dark outside...and everybody had gone to bed for the night. So, as much as I hate to admit it, I really did stand and stare into that building for 15 minutes. Maybe it was just a glitch, but I swear that corpse winked at me....so umm...errr....I had to shoot it....just to be sure.

For me, definitely Half-Life 2. Stunning graphics, immersive story development...what more can be asked for?

For me, Team Fortress 2.

Because it is the first ever game that I tried to over-clock my old card on to see the awsome graphics and I managed to blow it up after 90+ degrees

My favourite valve game at the minute has to be counter strike : Source.
I just love that moment when it all boils down to the last 2 players (as long as it's me) and your adrenaline is thumping, thumping...

Then..

The last enemy!
You furiously hammer the mouse button unleashing waves of bullets!
And then he shoots you in the face -_-

That's why i love CS:S

Thumbs Up! Portal - hands down

Portal has got to be the Best Game EVER! From the awesome level design to the great voice acting, I was completely spellbound. Please, for the sake of my life and marriage, do not make any more games this good. My children need their father, and I don't have the time and money to spend on my computer.

If you need me, I'll be having my cake.

Portal is my favorite game because it's technologically the closest to helping me live out my girls' locker room fantasy.

I love all of Valve's single-player games, but Team Fortress 2 stands head and shoulders above all my other gaming obsessions. There's no greater joy in online gameplay than to have less than a minute left in what looks to be a hotly-contested tie round, only to have your medic's "ubercharge" come online and turn the tide with a sibling or friend playing the part of a lumbering, mad-eyed, temporarily-invulnerable, minigun-toting murder machine! That's something that will never get old for me.

I was just looking at the poster of Psychonaut, signed by Tim
Schaffer, I bought for my home office, displaying all the characters
featured in the game, and said to myself : "if by any chance I get
this Radeon signed by G. Newell, that'll bring to two pieces the
collection of my PC Gaming "memorabilias" ! "

But then.. wait! I thought.. wow, dude, wow.. I just got it! The "G"
in Gabe looks exactly like the "G" in G-Man... could it be that Gabe
is... ah! gotcha!

Well, the G-man is an iconic figure nowadays, after "Men in black"
certainly comes the "G-man", but thinking about it and from what I
read in the news, G. Newell must be a lot cooler !

You all think I'm sucking up huh ? so what !? Wanna-fight-bout-it ? I
let you talk about you fav game, let me talk about my fav character in
Valve's games... (well ok maybe the Engineer in TFC is my favorite)

My favorite Valve game is HL2 Death match. There is nothing like lan gaming with freinds and getting a crossbow shot mid air with low gravity on! Watchin the body float into nothing is funny!

The original half-Life has a special place in my heart. At the time of its release, it was one of the most demanding and most beautiful game. It was the first game that pushed me to upgrade my hardware. The era of the 3Dfx Voodoo 2 was over.

Favorite Valve Game Q and A

We do a telephone interview with Andrew, an avid PC gamer, on his favorite Valve videogame.

Q: So Andrew, tell us about your favorite Valve video game...
A: Definitely Counter Strike Source. Hands down.
Q: Why so..
A: Well, thats a really deep question. Can I get back to you on that?
Q: Sure, I'll wait....
(30 seconds later)
A: WHO THE HELL DOES THIS GUY THINK HE IS??
Q: I'm sorry?
A: F*ckin NOOBiEs.
A: I'll teach these bastards a thing or two
Q: What are you talking about?
A: HEADSHOT BABY yyyyeEEAhhHH!
Q: What on earth is going on over there?
A: AND STAY DOWN!... stupid cs newb
Q: Excuse me Andrew... but--
A: THIS AINT GUILDWARS YOU CRAZY NOOBLET
A: I OWNZ YOU.
Q: Goodbye Andrew, we appreciate the time you've taken out of your (clearly) busy schedule to answer our questions.

Well, there you have it... Although our conversation was brief, it is clear to us why Andrew enjoys Valve's Counter Strike Source.

Well I'd have to say I have a mix of favorites, atleast for the Source engine. I love being a pyro in TF2, keeps me away from the hairspray and matches here. Just, the feeling of running through to someone's base and setting two or three people on fire is refreshing. Also, I'd have to enjoy the scout simply because beating the hell out of people with a bat is entertaining as well as very relaxing!

Then there's CS:S. While, competitive wise I play 1.6 more, I enjoy playing CS:S as well. Buying an AWP and waiting for the exact time and firing a large, piercing, bullet through a terrorists head makes me feel proud knowing I helped achieve some sort of act of courage. I like knowing my team is safe away from an active C4 charge, so it's always helpful to buy the kit. Otherwise, it would take forever to try to disarm it, and likely completely ravaging my body and anyone else in the path of destruction. Yeah, I don't like that.

I own HL2Central.net for the past 3 years and so I am alittle biased when I say HL2. But I just bought COD 4 and played the first 3 levels and my jaw dropped more than once. Right now it's still Half-Life 2, but Call of Duty 4 is pretty damn good so far.

Nah it's still gotta be Half-Life 2.

Sorry I called you a "butterball" all those years Gabe. Can I has videocard?
