I honestly have not played a game by Valve yet...anyone have some recommendations for me? I tend to stick to racing simulators...

Despite technological advances, it has to be Half-Life. The immersion of that game grabbed me the whole game through.

Gabe,
Your ass is so big it would take at least 300 GPU giveaway contests for you to come up with enough DriverHeaven ass monkeys to even put a dent in covering your butt with saliva. I am here to help you out. And no I am not Doug Lombardi you butterball so listen up. ![]() Your headshot for the past 5 years, pretty sexy. ![]() Gabe in reality the past 5 years. Looks like you have shingles. We all love you Gabe and we care about your health. Watching you blowup like a IAD scares me. I was fat too. I weighed 270 once, but because of Half-Life 2 and Counterstrike marathons I am now down to 198lbs! ![]() First pic was taken November 2005 - Last pic taken November 2006 (not photoshop) See Gabe. If you spent more time playing video games like me and stopped eating so much you too could get into shape. I can't exercise at all due to a back injury. I am sure you don't exercise either. This is the perfect diet. Play more games and eat less! Look at those Korean Gold Farmers! Some are still alive and they look amazing. OK back to the topic at hand. HL2 changed my lifestyle so much I even started my own HL2 Fansite years ago which I am co-owner of. We already have 98,383 posts! So whenever anyone asks me how I lost so much weight, I tell them Half-Life 2. But my x1900xtx is beginning to wear thin, and the holiday pounds are coming back. I need this GPU man. I don't want to be as fat as you again. You kow what it's like to be the company Santa. Yeah I hate that. Don't make me Santa again this year Gabe! Love, DJ Shamrock Owner: GameCentralNetwork.net Owner: HalfLife2Central.net The Coffee Room coming soon!

I'm gonna have to say Team Fortress 2 is hands down the best I've seen by Valve.
In the event of a hurricane, I would run to my computer and grab my copy of Orange Box just to save it. Screw the rest of my family, I mean.... errr... Yes. TF2's cartoon style is so immensive it makes me want to watch movies like Toy Story just to imagine what would happen if a pyro or a soldier would pop out and blow one of the child's toys away. Sure, it may seem a little sociopath-ic, but the game is such a beautiful piece of art, that's what it makes me think of. Was this funny? I cant even tell.

If it wasn't for Counterstrike, I would have never had any reason to go to LAN parties.

My favourite Valve game is the Source SDK. It's really open ended, and I like that about a game.

My favorite game is Half-Life 2. It's the best game ever, period.
Now give me my card before I show everyone that episode of To Catch a Predator Gabe Newell was on. I think the only reason it hasn't aired yet is because Gabe bribed the cops with boxes of ATI 3870 GFX's and copies of HL2.

This is an unbelievable story . I own Half-Life 2 Central - Your definitive source for Half-Life 2. so obviously I was a major fan of the game. Some of my mods actually visited Valve in Seattle and one of them, Magebomb was a play tester. He kept his mouth shut about the NDA, but he told us how fun the game is and whatnot.
The night before I reformatted my machine, and pre-loaded the game. We had a huge IRC party and what not. Magebomb psyched us up on IRCsince he knew it was great. I spent $500 on a 9800xt just to play this game! Well that morning I got a call for a job interview, and since I just got laid off as a graphic designer I had to make a decision. Play Half-Life 2 or get a job. I chose the interview. It was a good 30 minute drive there. Well the interview went great and I got the job. The Manager was a Half-Life 2 fan also. So I am stoked. I got a great job, Half-Life 2 is out, I am rushing home to play it. I paid thousands of dollars for a PC just to play Half-Life 2! After the interview I am flying home. I am 37 and was proud to never have gotten a speeding ticket my whole life. Well my lucky streak ran out. I got busted by a cop doing 97 mph in a 55 mph zone. The cop was pissed. He barked "Can you tell me why you are driving like a lunatic son." I told the cop "Sir, I will be honest, I just got out of a job interview and this video game I have wanted for years came out today and I really, really can't wait another second to to play it. I have a clean record, no tickets ever" He then took me out of the car and made me do a field sobriety test. He thought I was on drugs. He said that was one of the dumbest excuses he's ever heard and I must be high. I passed everything of course. Then he asked me, "Well it's none of my business but what game is so important as to risk your life to play?" I said: "Half-Life 2." He said: "Half-Life 2, really?" I said: "Swear to god." He asked me to go wait in the car, which is good. That means I ain't going to jail. He comes back with my license and insurance info. Cop says, "I just called one of my buddies and he confirmed Half-Life 2 did come out today. I totally forgot. Your DJ Shamrock right on HL2central right?" I said "Uuuuh, Yeah?" Now I am freaking. Am I being wire tapped? How could he possibly know this. Turns out they visited my site frequently. Then it got weirder. Cop said: "We've been playing Counter Strike Source at headquarters since they released it early. We are also huge fans of Valve. One officer plays it all the time. By the way ongratulations on your job. Here's your license and insurance back. I am not going to give you a ticket on one condition." I said: "OK" Cop said: "Can I come to your house and play it with you? Like right now?" My jaw dropped. I said: "Isn't that illegal?" He said: "I am a police officer and I am following up on your alibi. I am doing my job. Follow me." So for the next 20 miles I had a police escort to my house. Cherries on, going about 80 mph. Cars pulling over. We get there and there are already 3 more cop cars at my house. My grandmother next door is freaking out calling my wife and everyone. Unfortunately they played it before I did. That sucked, but they had guns. But they could play great. I guess they train with games from Valve. Best day ever, still ticket free. True story.
