Crytek To Abandon PC Exclusive Titles

Speaking in an interview with Croatian consumer website PC Play, Crytek president Cevat Yerli has indicated that the company will no longer produce any PC exclusive game titles - following relatively disappointing sales of the critically acclaimed Crysis.

“We are suffering currently from the huge piracy that is encompassing Crysis,” said Yerli. “We seem to lead the charts in piracy by a large margin, a chart leading that is not desirable. I believe that’s the core problem of PC gaming, piracy.”

partly true..... most people dont wanna buy the game because of its reputation as the system killer..... but theyre too curious and want to see it still.....

so they DL it and whether they likne ot or hate it, they didnt buy.

kinda funny.... but their main problem still is the fact that nobody except those with high end to enthusiast rigs can play it...

Blame the insane system requirements to play the game. You are alienating a huge portion of gamers who don't want to keep upgrading to play games

What Crytek forgot is that there are other competitors like COD4 which is doing great despite piracy. Also those who dl the game won't ever buy the game because they simply do not have the money, especially when you have to upgrade your system with a higher end C2D and two GF8800 in sli or two HD38xx in Crossfire to be able to play the game at decent graphical details and framerates. Also I think it's alittle too expensive for a such short game like Crysis, the gameplay is maybe as long as in Half Life 2: episode 1, maybe even shorter.

I think no one should be afraid since Crytek (if you like their games) is only announcing they will not only make pc games, but also console games (which are also plagued by piracy etc.). You only have to worry when Crytek is developing console games and only porting this console games to the pc, which means simplified control and gameplay which are very bad for pc gaming.

Not sure that any PC gamers actually care if titles they're palying are PC exclusive, as long as they're actually released on PC.
