Encryption chip will end piracy, open markets, says Bushnell
Speaking at yesterday's Wedbush Morgan Securities annual Management Access Conference, the Atari founder suggested that game piracy will soon be a thing of the past thanks to a new chip.
"There is a stealth encryption chip called a TPM that is going on the motherboards of most of the computers that are coming out now," he pointed out ______________ Source: Gamesindustry |

I haven't heard a more stupid statement in a while.
Still, I wonder, if the piracy truly ends...will that means the prices for games will fall dramaticaly, or at all?...lol

If this chip can be used to guarantee secure connections in other places that consumers would find useful, like banking or online shopping, then I don't see why it wouldn't make its way onto every motherboard.
Once it's there, stealing games with cracks and isos will become too hard for the average person. I would think that theft is still possible, but the work arounds would instead focus on the bios or a hardware modification. Either of those should sufficiently scare off a large number of casual pirates. Game prices won't go down, mostly because they haven't gone up as a response to piracy. The real response to piracy on PC's has been developers not developing for the PC.

I bet Mousey's computer that this is not going to work as an anti piracy tool.
