Hold on a sec. $29.99 for Warhead, $39.99 for Crysis, or $69.98 for both. Where's the deal? You are still paying regular prices for both whether you pre-purchase or not, and the same thing goes for whether you buy the "packaged deal" or not. Not to mention the fact that those prices, they are exactly what the retail products sell for.

Why would I buy a digital copy when I can get a physical copy for the exact same price? Maybe even cheaper?

You wouldn't. Which is why soon after they will blame piracy for low sales and the death of PC gaming, again, lol.

Here it's, $24.99 for Crysis and $34.99 for warhead..., total price $59.98 aaaand price for "complete package": $59.98

Plus VAT which is $15, making it $74,98... I can get both games delivered to me for 69$ from a Danish shop... plus 2$ added to my "account" at that shop.

I like the idea behind Steam, and digital downloads for some games, but it has to be cheaper, maybe not by 50%, but even 10% would do it.

After looking around a little... Play.com (UK) have Crysis listed at £26.99 & Warhead at £14.99 with Free P&P and VAT included.. A total of £41.98 (And cheaper than ebay).

Still cheaper than the Steams Package of £52.50 when vat is added.Thats if the online conversion is correct.

yeah steam isn't really competitive, however the other side of the coin is that I find it convenient to have access to the games online as I lose CD's and DVD's all the time. Also really handy for reviewing, to just have access to all the major (up to date patched) titles on the client without hunting around for discs.

Not sure why people would want to buy Warhead when Crytek declared Crysis defunctional and withdrew support a little while ago. I take it they haven't reversed that decision?

Either myself or Iria posted a article some time ago from Bluesnews

That they have put further updates on hold but refused to say why.

Around a week or so later Warhead was announced. At this time i can not find the folllow up article.Im sure they said any further crysis updates would come via Warhead.

Oh well, your money.

Why wouldnt they? $30 for a great expansion which doesn't require you to buy the original? seems good to me.

If one doesn't think about how the company didn't fully patch the game and instead makes you buy an expansion pack to patch the original, then yes I agree it is a good offer for a good looking game like this.
But if one does, then I don't see why one would want to give them the money for it, no matter how good the game is.

But hey, I don't have the game and don't plan on buying it either so whatever one does, it's fine. I just tend to keep buying games including expansion packs from companies that support their products without forcing you to buy the patches. Which is even funnier if one considers that before the announcement of the patch, they (Crytek) were bitching about PC being a dead platform due to piracy and how they are not going to develop any games either solely or in general (not sure) about it, then decide to not release any further patches and release an expansion pack for the game and platform they say it "sucks" (my words not theirs) which includes fixes that were supposed to be in the game even on release or as patches after release.

There are many other companies that in my mind deserve my money far more than them and I rather support them instead of Crytek (or any similarly behaving company).
I could be wrong, but that's how I see things.

Mind you, it has nothing to do with the quality of Crysis Warhead that according to GH's review is a great release, but with the company releasing it and their behaviour.

Well I think you need to just think that this is a new game, its standalone, has a revamped engine and the storyline and action is different. its not like you are paying $30 to fix and replay the original crysis.

Warhead isn't a patch Bluemak its basically a new "game".

From what I hear they aren't releasing anything else for PC after this, however its all rumour and speculation.

Well I understand what you are saying but if you only bought hardware or software based on companies principles or moral code then you would need to take up a new hobby !

To be perfectly honest I agree with the fact there is far too much game piracy on the PC platform (I am not saying its PC specific mind you, Xbox 360 is another heavily pirated platform). I know how much work goes into these games and I would be surprised if the game developers sold one for every 5 games pirated. They are losing a fortune. That said, I really do think a while ago Crytek needed to sort Crysis out, I dont think a game should really be needing 3 280GTX's to run correctly at 1920 or 2560 with everything maxed. In some ways I think Crytek have made a lot of errors and perhaps are realising it now.

Warhead is a brilliant game, I wouldn't advise anyone to miss this title, especially with the slim pickings this year on the platform.

You make some good points there.

I read the GH review and I have no reason to not believe that or you about the high quality of Warhead. Who knows, I might even buy it one day. I just find it hard to do so now for the reasons I mentioned earlier. Same reason I never bought again anything from TimeGate Studios after Axis & Allies, or EA Sports after the one failed football(soccer) management game after the other with the same bugs for several versions, never fixing the problems with patches and saying buy the next that has all fixed. For me it is the same thing.

I know many people if not most, don't agree with me on this one, but what can I say, I have become a grumpy gamer over the years :-p

Steam is a useful tool, but expensive (in some cases, not all). As for piracy being blamed for the downfall of the PC games industry, I support that argument, as a gamer. Over 50,000 people torrented Spore. I'd say that's a significant cut into the game's sales. Yes, the games companies don't help themselves by providing a poor level of service, but jesus, we're not helping them either.

If I had known Spore installs securom which fucks up my system and some crappy max 5 install DRM setting, I would have pirated it also.

Stop wasting time on useless protections which are cracked within days and does nothing more then scare away the real customers.

Just purchased it from Circuit City who is selling it for $24.99. I had a coupon so w/ that my total price w/ tax is $22.68. Which is almost the same price I paid for Crysis (which I still haven't played).

BTW, what is the point of pirating Spore? I would imagine you lose a lot but doing that.
